Default Grade PSA without using Dual-Service?

I'm sure this was probably asked before but pardon the newbie as I searched the site and couldn't find the thread: With PSA as the established and preferred grading company and most cards today has an autograph on it, do most people still submit for straight up card grading with no auto grade (dual-service)? BGS only charges $2 for auto but PSA charges a whopping $25 for the auto subgrade, which is silly in my opinion. That said, still welcome everyone's thoughts on submitting cards for just grading with no auto subgrade and if it lowers the value of the card without it? Thanks.

It’s more costly with PSA because they are “authenticating” and grading the autograph whereas BGS is just grading the autograph, authentic or not. That’s where the difference in cost arises.

Most people do not get the auto grade at PSA cards unless they are commonly faked or are very expensive.

most people dont get it because on 1998 and newer cards factory certified, its not necessary. the only time I ever really get it is when its 1997 an older cards that require it.

I'm confused. On card grading dual-service, there is no additional charge for the autograph grade. The prices are the same as the regular card grading services. You don't see many dual graded cards because the dual-service takes so long compared to the regular service.

On PSA/DNA autograph authentication, they do have an additional charge to add an autograph grade. But this is for autographed memorabilia like photos and baseballs. I guess if you mistakenly submit an autographed card through this service instead of the card grading dual-service, you would also get hit with this additional charge.
