Default Thoughts on Bol Bol?

I think he has a lot of potential for growth, what are your thoughts on him as an investment this early on? His cards are still very affordable.

I think it may be awhile before another uptick in his cards like what happened during the restart. On Denver I prefer Porter Jr., his cards still undervalued imo.

I think he’s going to be a monster and his size and ability is the future of the nba. With that said, May take couple years to pan out.

I honestly thinks he needs to gain some meat on his bones to make an impact. He will get knocked around a lot with a smaller but more powerful guy

Yup. He could be a great player assuming no injuries AND he needs to eat everything in sight/hit the gym.

He's not packing on anything. Look at his dad. It's in his DNA to be built exactly the way he is.

He has better handles and can shoot better than his dad. He's still awkward. I can't see him being a force at all.

I don’t buy that. Body work has advanced significantly since his dad was playing. Bol bol with have information and resources available to him that his dad only dreamed of. As with most things it will be about how hard he wants to work at it and whether he can stay healthy.

Useful role player rotation guy. Which is great for Denver. Not so great in Hobby terms.

Appreciate the feedback, I hope he is able to overcome some of the physical constraints he'll likely encounter. A player or person in general with his build usually struggles with longevity, knee/foot problems.

I have picked up a few of his contenders and prizms while they're still relatively cheap.

If you pour money into Bol Bol, don't expect to make anything back. Only expect to lose it.

I actually like him as an investment here is why:
1. Still very cheap, even if he isn’t a stud there is still plenty of room for a nice bump in price.
2. He has a high level of skill in multiple aspects of the game, passing, handles and scoring
3. Size, size, size
4. He is different, has a notable father who played in nba.

I could be wrong like anyone else but I don’t see much of a way you don’t make money on him at this price point if your willing to hold long enough.

With all that said I’m not buying much yet, maybe a lot, here and there. I do agree you probably have some time to buy in, maybe put that money toward a pc guy now, or investments likely to pan out sooner.

Should be worth a few bones on his RC, that's about it.

Invest in the other Nuggets rookie instead. MPJ

He needs to get traded to get his chance. Would be perfect for the Bucks...cheap and would help spread the floor for Giannis.

Just can’t see him panning out as he seems to be such a liability with how slow he is especially on the defensive end

IMO he is too injury prone. He needs to pack some weight on to be able to play with grown folks.

He has the potential to lead the league in blocks and has exceptional agility for a 7+ footer.

He was a 5-star recruit out of high school, behind only Barrett, Zion & Reddish.

Bol Bol's durability and conditioning are likely the two factors that will determine his level of success in the league, not a lack of talent.

Since I only look at NT's I cannot comment on the other brands, but both of these guys are overpriced on their NT RPAs.

Just look back at every draft class for the last decade and see how many guys in each class get some hobby love. It’s not many. So in order to invest in Bol Bol, you need to believe that he will be a top-3 player from this class.

Ya def, I think his game was great for college(and he showed that before he got hurt at Oregon)but I just don’t see it transitioning very well to the league, and then throw in the foot problems on top of it

How so? I think he has all of the tools necessary for success and likely more talent than Porzingis (best comp).

That said, I agree with anyone who has durability or conditioning concerns about him.

His footwork to me looks really bad, always flat footed. He could get away with it in lower levels as there just isn’t enough talented players to exploit it

Porzingis seems to have a lot more flow to his game, I just don’t see it with bol. I don’t want to say bol is not athletic since he obv is but he looks so damn uncoordinated at times imo, and being a defensive liability on the nuggets is quite the accomplishment lol.

With that said I hope I’m wrong as he seems like a fun player to watch

And on a different note since he has come up I think MPJ is gonna be a superstar in a few years

Like anyone with his frame, staying healthy will be the most important. His base prizm is $10, worth a flier at that price point.

I asked one of my friends (who doesn’t collect but follows the NBA closely) who he thought would be the next up and coming superstar. He said Bol and MPJ as his first two. Herro and JJJ were up there too.
