Love seeing new record prices. Have to wonder what some of the other modern monster 1/1s are worth.

Two questions:

1) Who bought it????

2) More generally, might this elevate interest in superfractors and other 1/1’s to another level?

Leaf should buy this and cut it up and insert it into other cards................

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

Article is on the front page of ESPN. Just a bit more attention for the card market.

Does Lebron have a Topps Chrome Super?

I imagine that beats this, right?

Edit: I just read it doesn’t exist. So exquisite 1/1?

Not 2003.

The LeBron comparison would be one of the two 2003 Ultimate Logoman autos. I think I previously said $3-5M. Have to think those are both $5M+ now. One of the MJ/LeBron dual autos might get even more.

Do we know who originally pulled this card, and or the number of times it changed hands?

I still get sick to my stomach thinking about the Trout xfractor and refractor autos I sold in the summer of 2012 (I wasnt going to these join the Jordan Schaffer and Brennan Boesch cards I still had).

All that shilling of the oranges and other cards actually paid off for him, well done.

Yes sports card market is about to crash, the bubble will burst soon . News articles like this will only add fuel to the fire, especially with it mentioning how the card was last sold only 2 years ago for $400k. I shouldn't have bought my investment home and bought this Trout Super instead

Does this sale imply that his base 2009 bowman chrome auto 9.5 is undervalued at $17k and should actually be closer to $40K?

I thought it would go for 8 figures, but the Angels slump this season makes Trout look really bad and reduced the selling price. It looks like Trout will probably be a "never won" guy, unfortunately, and that will limit the appreciation of his cards.

Overall this is great news for everyone in the hobby, congratulations everyone. If the Trout super is worth $3.9MM then reds are probably worth $1.5MM, and that trickles all the way down to 89 Upper Deck Griffey gem mint being a $5000 card and 2020 Bowman hobby boxes being $1K+. Just give it a few weeks.

It’s already such an iconic card, everyone in the hobby knows it is a BGS 9. A new grade wouldn’t really matter anyways

Not sure if it's hedge funds or not. But it does seem kind of inflated. I'd rather have a 10 '52 Mantle or the Wagner card myself. But that's just me.
