I’ll preface this post by stating that I own the card in question.
How can a 2013 Trout Finest Masters Refractor insert not be a $1K+ card? There are only 50. 50! The only parallel is the super and an auto. It’s a great looking, rare, early insert of the most valuable player. What cards do you think are undervalued?

2011 Bowman Sterling Mike Trout Auto. Only 109 of them and its one of only 2 Trout RC autos.

Pretty much anything Arenado, Goldschmidt, Votto or Freeman (and I own none of these players). For some reason, hobby has just never embraced them fully and I feel like their values are lower than where they should be.

I agree, although I think Freeman has increased significantly over the last year (at least in my view). I also echo the Frank Robinson and Hank Aaron sentiments. I recently picked up a psa 1.5 Aaron rc for way less than a Trout update. It just doesn’t compute, but sure was glad to add it to my collection! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For current players the old story remains: baseball good doesn’t equal hobby good. A few guys with RCs in the last 5 years come to mind:
Trevor Story Max Muncy(the dual RC is a killer) It gets tricky for super new stuff because everything seems so high but $1 for Dustin May flagship seems low compared to others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Or most new stuff is ridiculously overvalued. The vintage stuff has been stable for a long time, going up steadily but not quickly over time. New stuff fluctuates every month (except Trout). Probably more about the insane prices for 10s and even 9s

Picked up a 1954 Hank Aaron PSA 4 today. $2795. Prices sure have gone up... but lots of runway in my opinion...

Goldschmidt already looks like he's started declining and he needs to stay really productive for 4-5 more years to make the hall. Votto will get in but he's 36 and a borderline HOF right now WAR-wise. Freeman is the best of the 1B but he's not cheap either. What's a 1B with no chance at an MVP and a likely shot at the hall really supposed to be worth? His BC Auto is a $200 card. What's the comparables you can point to of a similar players past or present being more "fairly" valued? |

My vote goes to Jose Ramirez just because he's the cheapest guy that is most likely to be in top 3 MVP contention for the next few years. He's a FA after next season and he'll then be on a big market team as the Indians aren't going to pony up $200+ million to keep him
He's not marketable and he's the best player casual fans haven't heard of and that's why he's cheap I know. But he's on the path to a HOF career with the near MVP shot |
