$50 American Eagle, 1oz Bullion

I have this 1988 $50 American Eagle, 1oz gold piece. My understanding it's considered "bullion." My question: Is the value based on the price of gold or is it worth more? The condition of the coin seems great, there aren't any visible defects. I'm not a collector so any additional info is greatly appreciated.

It has a hazy look, like it’s been cleaned.
I’d give you $1900 for it anyway
