Default Is this Griffey good?

Hi all,

I've been searching to buy a Ken Griffey Jr . auto. I wanted to get opinions on this one here. To me it looks spot on, other than the Jr. Curious to see what others think. It's availble for a decent price. Also, if anyone has a signed Ken Griffey Jr. card they'd be willing to sell for $100 or less message me! My budget is limited as a college student by I'd like to see what is out ther for sale. Thanks!

Stay safe. Wear a mask!

Jake

The only autos I trust are those that I personally witnessed or those paid / witnessed by a reputable authority (e.g., buyback autos).

Look at it this way, you're willing to pay $100 for a card that's worth a dollar or less because you think the auto is real. From a thief's point of view, if they spend 10 hours learning how to fake KGJ's auto, they can pay for their time with a single sale. Too much incentive to cheat.

I one hundred percent get the college student budget. Freshman year i probably had 100 dollars left over after necessities tops and it was always tempting to go for these cheap seemingly good deals and i got burned once or twice. Luckily I came into some money last year from some good investments outside of baseball cards and now as a college senior get to buy a lot more things. At this point with your limited budget i would recommend buying on blowout in all honesty. Buy from people with some feedback and there are plenty of good deals to be had. Also, if you dont find the perfect card for you on your current budget. Put it aside and dont spend it and next time you have a 200 dollar budget to buy what you want. I always wanted to spend whatever left over money I had on cards but when I set it aside for a while until i had more I always ended up finding something I really liked compared to two or three cards i didnt like.

So to sum it up my advice would be. Buy on blowout from reputable guys at often cheaper prices, dont feel rushed to make a purchase when you could wait it out and find something better. Oh and don't buy in person autos of ebay. There are a couple guys on here that have tones of them that I would trust completely but not ebay sellers.

OP just have patience.

There are other KGJ autos with BIN under $100 that are pack pulled listed on eBay right now. Now it’s much easier to find one in a Reds uniform than Mariners, but if you wait long enough and use a search for “Griffey Jr Auto” and “Griffey jr autograph” and limit to $100....run that search two or three times a week and limit yourself to pack pulled autos...you’ll find something sooner or later.

100% get a certified auto. Don’t even waste your money on an in person auto.

Default Appreciate the feedback!

Hi all,

I really appreciate the feedback. I've found a few buyback auto's but I feel like a lot of them are faded in regards to the signature. I wanted to ask how they hold up over time? Also, this is a card (attached below) I have been pursuing for years... I finally have the funds to get the card. It is in person but PSA/DNA certified with a bold beautiful autograph. What do you think?

Thanks again!

If you have to ask, then there's your answer.... There are plenty of authentic auto's on there for between $100-150. . .

Hold off on buying both. There are many better examples that you can pick up for cheaper. The PSA slabbed card is nice but that upper right corner would bug me overtime I looked at it. Be patient.

Would you possibly have another Griffey auto within my range from another year if those are out of the question?

M's Red's or White Sox. If it's Griffey I'm good!

I've been in your position. I went non-pack pulled when I started. It was stupid. Find any, literally any, pack pulled auto you can within your budget. There are probably plenty of newer product autos out there for you. You most likely won't find anything from the 90s in that price range.

And magicpapa, come on now, don't play with the kid like that.

I remember a couple years ago I got his 2005 Upper Deck Ultimate Signature Decades auto for like $75. Has a nice action shot, is from his playing days, and is on card. Great looking card for a nice price if they’re still around $75. Not my exact card but just like it:

He'll never stop! Just recently getting back into cards and I remember being envious of his posts 10 years ago.
