Marvel Masterpices - ultra pro 9-pocket

Hi all,

I am the person that like to store sketch cards in binders.

Does anyone know if I can store thick Marvel Masterpieces sketch cards into a 9-pocket page ? Will this damage the sketch card ?

Standard 9 pockets are tight. Whether it's too tight is a comfort level thing, and how patient you are putting the cards in.

You might want to see is anyone around you sells the side loading 9 pocket pages. The pockets are just a little bigger and I find them to be a better fit. But finding them to try yourself might be tough as not everyone carries them.

I’m always going back and forth with this. I kind of wish UD would not do the super thick stock on the MM cards, as the cards seem prone to damage, and storing them is more of a hassle than it should be. I see nothing wrong with a normal stock MM set- it was done in the 90s, and the cards look fantastic to this day (and a lot easier to store). Or even just a slightly thicker stock, but not 100pt.

Anyway, my scheme that I’ve settled on is as follows: Anything valuable (such as tier 4, sketches, gallery, etc) go in 100 pt one-touch magnetics. This is the best way to store these thick cards without the possibility of damage in my opinion. I do store the base and parallel sets and lower dollar inserts all in binders, and I haven’t had a problem with this. They are snug for sure, but I think ok.

I first used the normal 9-pocket Ultra Pro Platinum pages. One of the problems is the cards seem to creep up over the pocket sometimes because the snugness. I agree with the post above that side-loading pages seems to be a better fit. I purchased Vault X side-loading pages (which are good quality btw, and the pages lay flat), and put my 2016 MM and 2018 MM cards in them. Another option is just buy one of those gaming portfolio binders with the black side-loading pages (ultra pro makes them- they are good fits as well. I went with the Vault X since you can put them in a normal ring binder, which I like to customize, plus you can swap out pages which you can’t do with a portfolio binder. With these side-loading pages.....they are meant to store cards on both the front and the back of the page, but I am doing only the front side of the pages, because the page would be very thick if 2 100pt cards were stored back to back.

I do not have the cards sleeved, but I think there is enough room there to sleeve them and I wonder if maybe I should. My only concern long term is it’s still a tad snug, and as always with binders, you just never know....cards can still slip out of the pockets a little , etc. It’s been ok doing it this way though, so far.
