Default Card show this weekend

Another show this weekend - anyone going? I'm hoping they have a better system in place.

East Cobb Collectibles Show

There's one in San Antonio this weekend. They will be enforcing masks and distancing, supposedly, but at a card show is that really possible? On the fence about going. I really feel we shouldn't because it's a needless risk but on the other hand...cards.

they unfortunately didn't enforce masks at the last one and from the pictures did nothing about distancing even though they told me they were planning to enforce it.

I mean if you wear masks its safer. I would require gloves also just to be safe at my table

and a card show is one of those events where touching it's everywhere and distancing it's almost impossible

Pretty ballsy to schedule a card show during the middle of a pandemic. Especially when you have a MASSIVE spike in the numbers of people with it.

If I was there, I'd probably pass.

I'll be there. Definitely will wear my mask this go around and plan to get there early right after it opens.

If you’re going to a card show, please remember this

If I go, I'd like to get there around 8:30 to 9, basically right when it opens.

I actually don't have plans to buy anything...really just need to sell a few items. I'm sure I'll look and see if I can find a little something for the Braves PC.

I have been thinking a lot lately of ideas of how to have a card show that is a little more more "socially distant" as in the past. Here are some of my ideas:
1) do the show in an outdoor venue such as a big parking lot
2) Limit capacity to a certain number of people at a time
3) have temperature checks at the door
4) masks and gloves required
5) have vendor tables 6 feet from one another
6) Try to limit interaction between vendor and customer to around 10 minutes
7) try to encourage using PayPal instead of cash
8) Limit the dollar boxes to maybe 1 or 2 per vendor

Idk. These are just some of my own personal ideas as I really miss going to card shows as I have not seen any in the Northeast recently and am disappointed(but understanding) about no National in August.

The dollar box.thing is hard. I dont.think cash is a huge worry. It does not seem to transfer as easily on items they have said.

General question for the board - If you agree to accept paypal from a stranger at a show, can that person later make a charge back saying they didn't receive the item or for some other reason?

In person transactions should be paid by pp gift

So, once it's done that way there is no chance of reversal?

Older collectors may not have paypal and I have no problem.with cash if I have gloves on myself. I put it in a TD bank bag and than deposit it.that same day.

Will showers and properly fitted belts be required?

Only requirements are over 50 and overweight

Back to OP, I live 10 minutes from this show... you won't find me there. Not worth it at all imo

I live literally 5 miles from that Hilton Garden Inn, I'd love to go, it's on a Sunday, wife is supposed to work AM shift... but Covid is making a major comeback in the Atlanta area. My wife's office is closed today/tomorrow to deep clean for unknown reasons (they won't tell anyone, but 10-1 it's because someone got the Rona, which does that mean why wife was exposed, her company isn't saying anything so we're searching around for test sites, which most say she doesn't qualify since her company won't say someone tested positive)... this is an example of how easy it is for 100+ ppl to get the Rona from 1 idiot or 1 awful company not disclosing infections. Last I checked a good portion of Baseball collectors aren't the most honest folks, they think social distancing and personal space shouldn't exist, and (at least here in the South) masks are the mark of a liberal and they'd rather die than wear a mask.

Yeah I'll be in town for a very small wedding Saturday but not sticking around as I imagine many things will be closed and don't want to endanger anyone needlessly. If it was outdoors under a tent I would probably go, but indoors just feels unnecessary.

Yeah as others asked before that I share when these come up to share them I thought I would, I doubt I'm going - cases are exploding - and it's not easy here to get a test - they have no symptom testing but it takes 8 plus days to get results so by that time it is too late.
