Default 2019-20 Obsidian FOTL Dutch 7/7

$1250 start
$350 floor

Look for 1 Base Electric Etch Blue parallel (#'d/16) or 1 Base Electric Etch Contra parallel (#'d/3) in every FOTL box! FOTL boxes are the only place to find these ultra-rare parallels!

The FOTL exclusive is a base card.

This has gotta be a joke. Once again another dutch auction where the basement is more than double MSRP. Wasn't MSRP on this $120 last year? The basement is $350 with a below average FOTL base card. The scale for this crap is $1250-$350. Prizm FOTL the scale was $1000-$250. This should be $600-$120 not that it matters. Will probably sell out for a billion dollars a box anyway.

inb4 same 19-20 FOTL thread trajectory we've all grown to love.

Let the number crunching and pomo begin.

You know sooner or later we are going to get to a point where the basement price Panini sets for every single FOTL product will be the value of the product or higher. Panini getting closer and closer to 100% of the pie.

The thing I've learned with these Dutch offerings, is that the boxes are worth whatever the public decides they're worth.

Throw the notion of MSRP and actual production/singles costs out the window. That does not matter to flipperbois and gb's so long as they can fill spots. These are limited edition boxes. Once they're gone...finito.

It's just a matter of how much more meat is left on the bone after the dust settles. Everyone will have to calculate their own greed index. I ain't trippin...whatever I get now is just house money. 19-20's been bueno. Real bueno. I can't even imagine having been on the sidelines for over half of these releases...it's free money.

Will you share this same opinion in about a month when Opulence FOTL scale is $10,000-$3,000? You know I'm sure everyone was demanding for an all booklet RPA set from the second highest MSRP product of the year. At even the floor of around $3.3k total with tax you can pull the Zion and its the only FOTL exclusive card you can break even on. Unless I'm reading it wrong it's all booklet RPA for Opulence. Zero regular RPA. Real big upside. I'm sure everyone will be lining up at the door to get in breaks where the total cost will be $4.2-$4.5k a box. And that's assuming it gets to the floor.

I dodged Noir and I shall dodge Opulence. Why? Because they don't have enough pedigree for my liking. They could make money, but that's not something I'd wager my own money on.

Obsidian seems intriguing. Only because it seems to have been a fairly large hit last year when it debuted.

Most of my decision will be based on the box format. If it's one of those premium editions with 20 or less cards total, I'm out. If it's a traditional box format with a fistfull of packs and tons of bass/parallels...I may consider.

didn't you go in on Spectra tho? I agree that the FOTL for Spectra was >>> Noir, but overall Noir is a superior product. Opulence is like Flawless in that it is super overpriced but the really high end stuff is awesome. If they're handing out RPA booklets in Opulence, you damn well know people are gonna be taking out 2nd mortgages to get a piece.

Spectra was a spur of the moment decision, primarily because the 4 pack configuration. I feel it has way more crossover appeal with its chrome base and parallels than Noir, which is more of a welfare NT alternative. Opulence/Noir/Impeccable...etc...crabs in a bucket. Don't get me wrong, some of the cards in Noir are absolutely gorgeous, just not really my steez.

Party's over. Time to pack it in and leave sports cards to sneakerbois, athletes, and silicon valley.

2 years from now we'll see musicians flexing sports cards in their music videos.

Obsidian has always been a 1 pack per box product.

st Off The Line 2019-20 Panini Obsidian NBA Trading Cards comes with 7 cards per pack and 1 pack per box.

Boxes, on average, hold the FOTL exclusive Electric Etch Blue or Contra parallel, 2 autographs, and 1 additional insert or parallel!

My biggest issue with obsidian is its always an all sticker product. If they ever went to all on card autos it would do so well.

Sometimes I gently tap my Shore Mcgwire BSA one touch to the beat of TLC's 'no scrubs.' A gentle reminder of what was, and what could have been.

IMO Obsidian isn't about the sticker autos. It's all about the base set & contras. Me loves it long time!

Funny how opinions differ so much on Obsidian. I love the look...reminds me of the old UD Black of 07-08 & 08-09. The base cards are beautiful. Definitely would be a huge upgrade to have on-card autos though, I agree with that.
The true 18-19 Obsidian Luka's sell very well -- raw base cards just sold for $700 and $925 -- so I imagine the Zion base will be huge.

Obsidian feels like a retail product to me. It just doesn't feel like a high end one pack per box product. Especially since it's all stickers. But each to their own.

I loved obsidian last year but this has to be the worst FOTL exclusive ever right? Check out my awesome Enes Kanter /16 base pull..

Because Obsidian isn't a high end product. The MSRP is $120 a box. Panini just put the basement of the dutch at 3 times MSRP. Which I'm sure going forward we will see more and more of.

Obsidian last year was awesome because it was only one base card per box and a very tight checklist, so it was a very fun break. It also hung around on Panini’s website for a week or two before selling out at $120. Imagine those days.
