LeBron James Regret Thread

The Giannis thread is crazy to look back on and reminded me of all the LeBrons I sold in 2009-2013.

I'm sure mine aren't too crazy, but I'll post the ones I remember.

Sold my 2005 Finest Rainbow as a lot for like $300. I had about 8 of them. I get sick when I look at the prices now.

04-05 SPX Auto/GU for $200. Bought it back for $450 though.
4 Topps RCs and Bowman Chrome RC to a friend for $100 together.
I had about 10 Cavs autos, sold them for the market prices at the time which was pretty cheap.

I know people have had it way worse, but I still regret it a ton. I have done well recently over the past couple of years making some of it back though with the Optics/RCs/Refractors.

Interested to hear yours though!

Exquisite base cards from 2004,2005,2006,2007,2008
And a bunch of refractors/xfractors from 2004-2009 topps and bowman chrome. Sold those when his refractors boomed a couple years back so I dont feel too bad but wish I still had them today. The guy I sold them to was a collector and not reseller too so that helped. Have him on IG and still chat with him here and there. Pretty sure there were other Lebrons i missed.
Got back to collecting in 2005 so his stuff were basically cheap. His auto were like what $200-$300?

I have an LBJ PC (and Miami Heat PC) , and I made a deal on BO for a Historic MVP Optic Contenders Holo for like $50... For some reason, I wanted to buy a nice lot of packs or a single hobby box for no reason whatsoever.

So I took a really nice picture and listed the card for $100 on eBay (was worth $70 at the time) If I made the sale, I'd be making nearly double my money if it sold. If not, I wouldn't mind as it was a PC card.

Somehow sold it to someone who overpaid at the time. Card ATM is worth $220ish.

Nowhere near as bad as some other people but it was a painful experience...

(4) Lebron James UD 2003/04 Ultimate Collection Auto RCs #/250 (one of them was a BGS 9.5 and another one was a BGS 10 that was stolen from my home when it was burglarized!)
(2) Lebron James 2003/04 SP Authentic Auto RCs #500
(1) Lebron James 2003/04 UD Rookie Exclusives Autograph BGS 9.5 w/10 auto

And....

1 Lebron James 2003/04 UD Exquisite Collection Patch Auto RC #/99 3 colors!

So yeah... about 500-750K in those cards or more...

traded a Lebron Chronology /99 auto for a Brandon Roy UD Black manufactured Flag patch auto /5

also had about a dozen Lebron Chrome RCS and sold them all for about $70 each

also had a SPx jersey auto Rookie graded BGS 9.5 sold it for $850 a long time ago

I grew up outside of Cleveland and collected Cleveland player sports cards from about 1990 -2001, when I went off to college and stopped buying cards for the most part.

So during LeBrons rookie and early years, instead of loading up on cards I was getting loaded at keg parties and having the time of my life in college. I regret none of it.

2008 Chrome Gold PSA 10 I sold two summers ago during what we thought was "the boom" for $2700. Bought it raw $750 and 10'd it, felt like the man esp after just getting into bball.

While that sucked, I have a lot of brons I've kept because of that experience and probably a few from the proceeds. Live, learn, get better

Bought two topps chrome refractors a long time ago when raw they were about $135 a piece. Sent both to bgs and both came back 9.5. Sold them for about $350 each great return as that was market value at the time. But geez wish I still had those.

I sold a 2003-04 Bowman Chrome X-Fractor /150 Rookie BGS 8.5 for $1700 at start of 2018 when I needed some money for taxes. The centering was an 8 but Edges was 10 and corners and surface were 9.5.

I don't feel bad when I sold a card and bought other cards, I feel bad when I had to sell something to pay for not-fun stuff.

Back in 2014, I sold a 2013 UD All Time Greats Signatures auto /30, BGS 9.5 for $255.
The regret is more about me being scammed on the ebay sales.. I sent the card but never received payment.

It was a mistake I made.. Was a beginner ebayer, and didn't have my paypal set up correctly. Hence the buyer couldn't send me payment after the auction. Realizing I was causing inconvenience, I decided to send the card before my paypal was set up.

Months later, after numerous unanswered messages and phone calls, the buyer posts the Lebron on his Facebook page, said he's framed it and put up on his wall. I was outraged, but in the end it was my fault..

Ebay didn't do much to help. And just like that, I was out on a Lebron auto.

Sold way too many Lebrons, horrible in hindsight. Base Topps RCS for $15, bazooka RCS for $5, I had this crazy Exquisite Triple patch card, low numbered, I don't know how much it would sell for today but it would definitely be WAAAAY more than the $200 I sold it for.
