My best Sir Charles cards from the 90s (pics heavy, updated 04/11)
When I saw Mindcycle’s trio of 98-99 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems of Nuggets players on Instagram, and how he had managed to catch the light, without any glare, reflection, or shadows, I had to ask him what his secret was. A few days later, I had a brand-new lightbox, and thanks to the many tips of Mindcycle, for the first time ever in my collecting days, I managed to take pictures of my cards, without an angle, and catching all the brilliant colors and foil finishes!
I decided to start exclusively with stuff from the 90s. Here are a few of them in chronological order. I will keep adding some regularly if there is any interest. Feel free to comment on the quality of the pics, I’m still learning, and some foil finishes are really tough to catch! Wow, some really stellar photography of some amazing 90s cards!!!
Photographically, my favorites are the Cornerstone Refractor, the 97 Rubies, the 98 Credentials Now (silver), and the 99 Legacy Row 1. You absolutely hit a homerun on the assortment of colors on the Cornerstone - I think those pop maybe more than any other silver bordered refractor I've ever seen, but I've been unable to capture the effect on mine. I just cannot shoot refractors to save my life.  97 Rubies are a general favorite of mine, and the shiny red foil was nicely captured in your shot, and goes great with the Rockets' red. Speaking of team colors, do you realize how your colors came out on the 98 Credentials Now - absolutely perfect, to go along with the sparkly silver lettering! The 99 Legacy Row 1 can be such a clean looking card, and you caught it all in bright colorful glory, even getting the blue foil to sing a bit in unison, despite not being holofoil.Finally... that 99 Masterpiece...

Sensational! The cards, the snaps, but what I find most inspiring, not a grade in sight - natural beauty.
My favorite 3 of this bunch of candy - Test Refractor, OG Game Jersey and 97 Metal Championship PMG. Also, after slagging them off, those Green PMG's are beginning to grow on me... |
