Default White Plains, NY Card Show - PSA

Hey guys, couple questions. First, any of you guys planning on attending this show next weekend? Never been to a show and was thinking about going to this one because it's pretty close and I discovered that PSA will be there accepting "take-home submissions". I wanted to maybe drop off the Tatis Super I pulled recently. I've never submitted cards for grading other than through Jewcer at max value of $199.

Would someone who has done it be kind enough to explain the process of the take home submissions? Basically the same process if you were to mail them your cards? Fill out app and they charge accordingly, take your cards at the show, and then mail them back to you?

Also, is this show an annual event? Pretty good turnout, fun, worth going, etc?

I just moved back to Long Island and was planning on swinging by. I would be interested to hear peoples' thoughts on it.

Most of the dealers at the ECN are focused on vintage.

This show and the East coast National are the only 2 worth attending.

This isn't the ECN though, correct? Smaller show I'm assuming?

Fill out the form online, print it out and bring it to you. Make sure to use whatever the value is for a PSA 10 of your card. In this case, it's the express I believe.

Either way, that will save time and they just take the card and you are on your way.

Good luck!

Nothing frustrates me more than when I'm waiting on line and the guy in front has this conversation with the rep:

Rep: How can I help you?
Guy: I want to grade these (puts down his cards on the table, all in screwdowns).
Rep: Sir, you have to take them out and fill out the form.
Guy: What form?
Rep: Here is the form.
Guy: How do I fill it out?
Rep: Just follow the instructions.
Guy: I don't know what these cards are called
Rep: [silence]
Guy: Can you fill it out for me?
Rep: I can't, they're you're cards.
Guy: Sigh
Rep: Can you move to the next seat so I can help the next guy?
Guy: No, no. I can fill it out quick
Rep: Ok
Guy: What do I do next?

Please don't be that guy (to others, not the OP). I wanted to throw my stack of Acuna's at him, but realized they're Acuna's, so I held it back!

Haha, exactly why I made this thread. That could have been close to me, probably not quite that bad, but pretty much. I'll print the form and bring it, thank you.

Also, do I have to be part of their club to submit at a show like this?

Also, it's a good show. I'll be over at BGS doing some RCR's (I subbed my latest PSA sub last month, so I'm pretty much dry right now).

Mostly vintage show, just get ready for some crowded aisles and lots of not so sweet smells as you pass by people!

Hmmm, don't really do vintage and not a fan of BO either. Could be a deterrent...

They'll be modern cards. I would say 60/40 vintage...it's very close spread.

As for BO, nothing you can do about that...just enjoy the show, meeting cool people, and most importantly, seeing some really cool cards! Have fun!

It's an unpleasant odor, but it's been known to grow on people.

Thanks for the intel. I'm looking forward to it, odor be damned.

So in essence are you really just cutting out the mailing step in the PSA grading process? Do the taken cards start at Research and ID.

Not necessarily. There are a few high end, modern day dealers there. Look for BlackJadedWolf - Sharon. She is one of the best.

No. They still have to go through the whole check in process. You basically save the shipping to psa.

PSA membership is only required when using their bulk service. The higher priced services do not require membership.

Please do not be the person at a table with their suitcase behind them or a giant suitcase next to them blocking the whole isle!

Also dont block other people from looking at a table! The dealers are not set up just for you (Unless you are buying them out in 1 shot!).
