Default Patriots post-Brady

Food for thought -- from a collecting/investing standpoint, is it wise to view Jarret Stidham as Tom Brady's eventual replacement? Or would you cash in on the speculation now or in the near future and assume the Pats go in a different direction (i.e., Josh Rosen)?

I'm only holding one real Stidham piece, but I worry about his longterm viability and how the Patriots view him (as a journeyman/permanent backup or the successor).

Forgive me if this has been discussed.

They should sign Nick Foles.

I've seen the future, but I've been sworn to secrecy.

Truth is no one really knows. Signing Kessler the game after Stidham threw an INT scared me, but from what I understand they brought Kessler in to run the scout team. No one knows what's going on in New England. Some say if Bill had his way Jimmy would be QBing the Pats through the playoffs right now.

I dont think Josh Rosen is very good. Stidham they were supposedly high on but I dont think scouts loved him coming out of college.

I think Stidham could pan out. If Brady moves on next year I'm not sure what other options are out there. Case Keenum? Marcus Mariota? Jameis Winston? Maybe Stidham has enough to win the job.

Of course Brady coming back is still in the cards as well.

Depends on if Stidham found some of the spice melange.

Once Brady leaves, the Patriots will need to hire a competent GM. The Coach is a genius but the other half of his duties are lacking at best.

I am pretty sure Tom Brady will come back for one more year. They went 12-4, without Brady they are a .500 team at best as they have no replacement for TB. If they kept Jimmy G it be different.

A few recent articles suggest that Stidham is making some nice strides. Seems like a nice reasonably priced investment option to me.

Yeah, The Dolphins, Ravens, Chiefs, and Texans beat the Patriots but 3 of those games could have went either way. It wasn't like they were blown out. The Dolphins beat them by 3, Chiefs by a touchdown(7), and Texans by 6.
It wasn't like they were getting clobbered. Only the Ravens crushed them. I would say the Ravens should be favored to win it all.

Patriots had momentum until Edelman's fumble 6, wouldve made it interesting if they scored on that drive.

I would not invest in Stidham. His prices are already high for a backup and according to Pats fans that team has zero talent, should he have to take over.

I think they are going to go out and grab Josh Rosen, put him behind brady for another year maybe 2. Brady and Bellicheck retire and Rosen & McDaniels give it a whirl.

i really believe if McDaniels stays, that the Pats will get a vet and bring him in, like Andy Dalton or maybe Josh Rosen if he's released. I don't know about Stiddham, and like someone said, his prices are already kinda high.

I think McDaniels will stay - I think last season made it pretty obvious.... they lured him back in and said HC job is yours when this runs over.

While I don't think he will come out this year after having a pretty average season, I think they should go after Fromm. He's a great rhythm passer that would fit their system well.

Wanted Fromm for the past couple of years. Glad he had a "down year" and will likely be available when they pick if he declares. If Brady stays and signs a multi year deal, I dont see a need to pick a QB early, but if he retires would like to see them draft Fromm.

that's what everybody thought about Duncan and Popovich from the Spurs, but Pop is still coaching, and Duncan too.

so who knows? I really believe that at some point, the Patriots will be taken over by Josh McDaniels, Belichick is grooming him in some fashion the way Parcels did with him.

I think investing in him now is a great idea. Sell off when Brady retires. Those cards are going to skyrocket for a short period. Not a long term hold, but if anything happens to Brady, Stidham's prices are going to be silly for a bit.

I have a Playoff Contenders Preview auto #'d /23 I'm sitting on thinking this exact thing.
He may end up a bust, but I think it's safe to say that once he's put in the lineup, his cards will indeed skyrocket for a while.
