Arrow The Official Michael Porter Jr 2019-20 Rookie of the Year Thread

If you build it they will come...

In all seriousness, I’m curious how he plays tonight in his first real action in like 2-3 years.

Let the hype or rehype begin!

Off to a good start.

Why do people like him so much? Because he was a great high school prospect who now hasn’t played much in two years?

Hey at least after 1 quarter he’s not hurt!

That’s a start!

MPJ gets hurt or Simmons nails his first real 3, what happens first?

All I can do waiting for porter to be put in is to start the conspiracy train...ESPN must have payed the Nuggets to keep porter out until the 2nd half to keep people watching.

At this point, he could be eased into the starting lineup by 2034.

Just gotta wonder if he'll get any playing time at all in this game, and really, anything meaningful during the season.. I mean, the dude's experience is 3 college games and he's in competition with both Grant and Criag for the bench spot.

I want him to be a solid player for the Nugs, I really do. But I think people spent way too much money on his cards and somehow expect him to be this hero who comes out of nowhere (literally, look at his experience above again) and i'm just not seeing it happening yet.

This was my biggest concern for him as well. The Nuggets were a potential top seed in a west squad without him last year. They're front loaded with talent top to bottom. I'm not sure what the realistic expectation was for him playing alongside an mvp candidate and elite caliber backcourt.

Butter smooth on the first jumper after creating some nice space.

He’s already surpassed his career high, and is shooting 100%. Dude is the real deal.

Shot looked good, but as for creating space.... he's standing out by the 3 point line looking like he doesn't know quite where to go.

I can't wait to do the next update of my flip thread where I show off how I sold all my MJs and Brons to go all in on MPJ

Dudes who don't watch the Nuggets at all thinking he'll start and put up huge numbers..?

Yeah, I really don't know, lol. Somehow he's been hyped up by the media and collecting community, but I just don't see it.. Yet, at least. He has the physical tools to be good, i'll give him that. His shot looks good. We'll see.

True, true.

I think that's one of the perks of being such a successful young team. They could essentially take a flier on Porter. If his progression is stunted or he just never ends up panning out, they'll still be a championship contender. It's a nice problem to have.

I just personally can't see any perceivable way he could potentially be the best player on that squad with Joker, Murray and Harris still in the picture. That is a lot of usage rate between those 3 dudes.

He is 6'-10" can shoot and is 21 years old and you are not able to see him as a starter lol, what young players do you see as starters besides the obvious?

Yeah, there’s just no way. I’m excited to see how he does this season but I have a feeling it’s gonna be a lot of garbage time for him. Honestly, best thing for him would be to get some solid game time in the G league and hope to get into the bench rotation at some point for a decent stretch.

Standout for me tonight was Jerami Grant. I could see him starting second half of the season, if not sooner.
