Default Tom Welling to appear in 5 part Arrowverse Crossover!

Tom Welling is set to reprise his Smallville role as Clark Kent in the CW’s upcoming DC Arrowverse crossover, joining two other actors who have played the Man of Steel, Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh that are already set to portray the character in the crossover.

Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman in the animated series) will portray an older Bruce Wayne in one of these verses!

This is going to be AWESOME!

So excited! I haven’t watched the newer CW shows but I will watch the crossover just for the Smallville cast.

Figured it would happen after all the hanging out Rosenbaum, Welling, and Amell were doing last year.
I just hope we still have some surprises in store.

Anxiously awaiting them to announce Rosenbaum reprising his role as Lex.

Man, DC kills it with TV and crossovers, but fails so hard in movies.

Marvel has been the opposite, so far. Maybe Disney+ and trying hard to merge shows with the MCU will be a big change.

I'm just saying I like when it can all mesh well.

DC has the advantage of being able to eventually play off as other earths incarnstions of characters and they own all of theirs.

I REALLY hope Joker is actually part of DCEU and they're lying, but I doubt it.

I think they're going to hit this out of the park! Sounds like it's going to be all about the fans. A couple of things I'd love to see:

Since Welling and Routh are reprising their roles as Superman, Dean Cain, who has worked on Supergirl, could also reprise his role (the Multiverse "more mature" Superman).

Similarly, wouldn't it be awesome for Lynda Carter to reprise her 70's Wonder Woman (multiverse version)? She looks absolutely AMAZING, and what a great nod to the fans! Carter also has a working relationship with the shows, so...maybe?

Whatever they have in store, I can't wait to see how mind-blowing this will be!

So, I almost never watch comic based anything (shows or movies), but I read “”Crisis” when it first came out and loved it (even though I was a Marvel guy at the time and knew nothing about the DC Universe).

I would be interested in watching this crossover.

So, questions from someone who has been living under a rock:

Do we have a schedule of when this airs?

I understand this is supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the comic. If that’s true, do I need to know anything else about the DC based TV mythology before watching this show? For example, I have no idea what the “Arrowverse” even is. I know of Earth 1,2,3 etc.

Thanks...

The Crisis crossover will be five episodes. It was just revealed that the first three will air in December, and then the remaining two will air in January 2020. No exact dates yet, but that's about when you can expect it.

The "Arrowverse" is named such because the CW built up everything around their first comic show, "Arrow." Eight years ago, if you recall, the MCU was having great success with their Phase 1 Avengers films, and networks were starting to scramble to put up something superhero. But it was still early enough that shows were afraid to be too "comic booky." So Arrow was made be be more real world, gritty, practical... aiming for the aesthetic of the Nolan Batman films.

Things changed a lot when Flash went on the air two years later, and their writers started going all in and swinging for the fences. The moment of amazement happened for me, I think sometime in their second season, when I saw them have Killer Frost skating on ice ramps around the city. Finally a series was going full comic book on television, and it was showing everyone else how to do it. Since then, CW expanded to several more shows, and called it the "Arrowverse." It was to acknowledge where it all started from, and also distinguish its blended aesthetic of real world drama and comic book playfulness.

I don't think you'll have a problem jumping in on the shows when the Crisis event happens in December. The shows are each generally faithful to the comic books, with a few adaptation liberties here and there. So if you're familiar with the characters at all, you should be able to follow along. Additionally, in their past few years of crossover events, their scripts have provided good exposition in the dialogue for new viewers. There's also recap clips before each episode for anything really critical to know.

It looks like the breakdown will be first airing Sunday Dec 8th on Supergirl, the next day Monday on Batwoman, then Tuesday on Flash. They're taking a month break during the holidays to continue Jan 14th on Arrow, think it will be the last or second to last Arrow and completing with a special installment of DC's Legends of Tomorrow

she posted a photo on her Instagram of her and Welling during filming. CW has confirmed that they will let fans in on what has gone on for her and Clark over the 10 years since Smallville finale

Yeah I probably watch it once a year or every other year...was before it's time. Would probably be much better received now.

Could this end up being the greatest five hours of television ever? I'm loving all of these announcements.

I love everyone they are bringing into this story line. However, I must say that I hate Brandon's Superman costume:

It's basically the classic Fleischer Studios 1940's animated series costume as stylized by artist Alex Ross.

Joker takes place in 1981 so it’s doubtful.
