Walmart actually had some clearance...

I posted this in the wrong section, if a mod could move this to the Baseball card Breaks section that would be great!

Drove out to me LCS, which is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, and thanks to the holiday weekend they were closed for the weekend! Well, they are next to the Super Walmart, so I stopped in just to scratch the itch.

Not only did my Walmart have a decent selection of cards, which I am not used to from where a I used to live, it also had a good amount of clearance as well!

I grabbed everything I thought would be worth it, but now can’t remember some things. Are these worth holding at all, or was it really a dumb idea to grab these?

I got:

2 blasters of 2018 Topps Series 2
- really I grabbed them because I could not remember if that bat down Acuna was in retail along with hobby or just hobby. After I bought them, I started to think more and more that these were hobby only, and Series 2 really had nothing great in it.

3 fat packs of 2018 Bowman
- really hoping for an Alonso paper auto out of this! In reality I know that is a stretch but possible. Also Ohtani, Soto and Acuna in here as well. Not huge money, but decent shot at making money back with each pack at $3.98!

4 fat packs of 2018 Donruss Football
- grabbed these at $3.98 each solely looking for Baker. Hoping out of four packs I can pull at least 1 Baker. Add into that mix Barkley and Josh Allen and I should be able to at least pull 1 of the 3.

Then finally, I am starting to learn a little about Basketball and saw this one single blaster of basketball sitting there all alone...

2017-18 Prestige Basketball
- I am not sure what is in here as I am just starting to learn, but for $14.98 can’t be that bad! I am pretty sure I am looking for Donovan Mitchell or Jayson Tatum. Anyone I miss?

So what day you guys, was this stuff worth it? Did retail Series 2 have the bat down?

There are conflicting reports of "bat down" being in retail, but this is unconfirmed. Supposedly, they have been found, but very very rare.

the best buy IMO was the 2018 bowman baseball. nice pick up!

Someone posted a video on here of a blaster of series 2 where they pulled the Gleyber rookie, however, I have not seen an Acuna actually pulled from retail.

interesting, since bat down was series 2, not update.

I pulled a bat down #698 from a Target series 2 retail hanger pack.

I guess we will find out soon, about to open them up.

Pache 1st Bowman paper
Rowdy Tellez Purple paper /250
Soto paper
Soto Chrome

The basketball yielded nothing that I can tell.

The 2018 Donruss football gave me the card I wanted!
Baker Mayfield Rated Rookie

So everything cost me $75 plus tax....I have about $20 in value now, let’s hope those Series 2 boxes are hot!

First box done, and no Acuna

Not a horrible box, Harper SP and a blue RC!

Just not a name I would want, but hey a blue out of retail not too shabby!

So should I rip or sell the other blaster?

Second blaster opened and absolutely nothing of note, except one card...

They do exist in retail! At first look this one looks great too. This is definitely a 9, but could be a 10. I will take a better look tomorrow, but there looks like a very slight corner issue, and I can’t tell if that is normal or a small amount of white.

First time I actually yelled opening a pack, and like usual the wife just rolled her eyes at me. Great feeling pulling a card like this out of a clearance box!

I think I may just keep it raw for now, but who knows.

For those who doubt these being in retail, they 100% are!

Sorry, that’s my fault. I tried using Tapatalk for the first time and get figure out how to get pics to work.

The first one is a Bryce Harper #351 SP and a Fathers Day Blue Aaron Wilkerson RC /50.

The second boxes only card of note was a bat down Acuna!

Edited - I get t now, making fun of my BIG pics, again that is from using Tapatalk when I am not technologically inclined in the slightest.

I wish! I sold my one I had a few months ago, and regretted it. I posted about it in a thread a while ago.

I did just pull this one, but I can see why most will think I am just trolling. Initially posted this to find out if these cards were in retail or not, and I got my answer.

That’s what I normally do, but didn’t feel like dealing with the scanner right now, lesson learned though, no more Tapatalk, scanner and Flickr eveytime.

Saw this thread when you started it and was headed to Wally World so picked up 1 pack of the 2018 Update. 1st baseball pack in 20 years. No Acuna but had 2 Soto in the pack - #300 and #104. Not bad.

That’s nice too! Hope he starts pitching again soon. The only Ohtani I got was some Legend in the Making insert and some other inserts I can’t think of.

Congrats on your pull! I think I may run out to the other Walmart’s in the area, and Targets to see if I can find some other Series 2.

Nice on the US300! Those should be jumping in value soon, I regret moving the few I had for a couple dollars each. Still have a couple HMT55s left, but think the US300 May surpass those.

I was searching for Update as well, but none of that was there. Didn’t want to grab the Series 2, and wouldn’t have if there was Update. I actually put back a couple blasters of 2019 Topps Chrome and grabbed these instead only because they were $4 cheaper! First time being a cheapskate paid off for me!

This is true. $80 invested. I should be able to sell everything and get the $80 back and keep the Acuna and Mayfield.

Like you said, nothing like getting a bat down for free. Even if I don’t get any money for them, I still get an Acuna bat down for $80...not too shabby.
