Default Beckett RCR Help: tampered RCR holder

Was excited to win this at a price that I thought was quite good.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Topps-...kAAOSwjPJdCVFG

Received today and found the card was in the RCR holder, but it was in fact sliced opened.

Is there any way at all to track the 6 digit number on the RCR label to see if in fact the card inside is what was actually RCR’d?

Not looking to spiral this into a grading debate - plenty of threads about that!

I would assume Beckett has a record but not really sure. Worth reaching out, if you plan on keeping the card.

Back corner (lower right) doesn't look good but if you think it's still 9.5 quality, it's really good price. If the corner does look rough in person, I would be sending that one back to the seller.

Never heard of a way to track. The pop report just shows BGS, BVG and BCCG.

Cheap price, sliced open.....file claim.

Contact seller yet to ask them what is going on with it being sliced?

From what I have heard, once an RCR is opened/card removed, Beckett no longer guarantees anything connecting them to the card. It might be easiest to just return the item as "Not as described"

Opened a claim on eBay for item not as described.

Heads up if it resurfaces.

Serial numbered 221/250. Looks great in hand, but the recent BGS climate has me spooked.

How is it "sliced opened"?
Do you have any pictures?
I'm just curious how it looks and what to avoid in the future.

RCR isn’t guaranteed once it leaves the site.

It’s not even guaranteed if it doesn’t leave the site anymore. I had 3 of 4 cards downgraded at Dallas show after turning them into slab same time as they were picked up from RCR.

actual wording on newer ones technically does not even guarantee that.

back of older one that you can see not guaranteed once leaves beckett pocession

newer label - you can see right on there the wording they can "adjust grade upon final review"

Too bad they don't know the difference between insure and ensure... they don't have any grade guarantee/ insurance.

Card looks good but it’s heading back to the seller. They accepted the return instantly upon opening of the claim. Raw it probably sells for the same, if not more anyways, but it’s more the principle for me. It was advertised as an RCR and I’ve had 100% success sending them in for the assigned grade.

The back right corner as another poster noted is weak, but it absolutely could be a min gem.

I'd definitely be interested to know whether or not Beckett has a database of serial numbers for RCR. I highly doubt they do, but it seems to me the seller blatantly stuck a big card in a holder for something no one cares about.

RCR serial number is not traceable according to someone with an extensive BGS background.

According to the seller they purchased it in a large lot and “didn’t inspect” the case.

Return was accepted.

So if the grade isn't guaranteed what is the point of spending the money on rcr again?

Once it leaves Beckett's hands, the RCR is no longer guaranteed.
