Question Topps Walking dead - Which series is the best bang for buck??? Opinions Matter:)

Looking to purchase some boxes of TWD in quantity, still love both shows and the comics and haven't busted anything for a while after I got out of collecting so its time for fun. After all my searching I can find the boxes easily enough, just hoping people had opinions.

Which series is the best overall value as far as return if I only keep some of the cards?

Would you go for Hobby or blaster value boxes?

Any releases I should avoid for various reasons or because there are Redemptions in them that are now expired?

Like packs so not interested in the Autograph collection series sticker dump

Season 5
Season 6
Season 7
Season 8
Survival
Road to Alexandria
Hunters and Hunted
Evolution

RTA has a good value right now with the case price at 300, especially if you hit a jdm auto.

If you like manufacturered patches, go blaster. If you like autos & sketches, go hobby

Isn't there one of these that had missing auto hits in boxes? Season 5 or 6?

Pretty sure that was the first set, Season 5.

Honestly, I would buy any of the Cryptozoic sets before these. Boxes for the later sets seems to come up for $35-$45 with certain sales.

^true. The cryptozoic sets were all good, but no Negan autos in those, and jdm outsells pretty much every other auto.

In my humble opinion, I would go with any of the Cryptozoic sets before I touch Topps. There is way too much fluff with Topps, and the sticker Auto is far to present, especially in the later sets. If you’re a fan of Andy Lincoln, both season four product included him the most of all the Cryptozoic products, I believe. You can snag a case of season four parts one and two for under $400 each, and most of those Cryptozoic boxes have an extra hit. I’ve never busted a box with just the one auto and the one Relic. If you want JDM, I would just purchase a Beckett/JSA witnessed for the price of a box or two of Topps. Good luck with whatever you do!

Interesting thoughts. I too thought about crypto but have busted those to my hearts content, that’s when I stopped collecting. Looking for some value but I know this is mainly for enjoyment

That's where it's tough. In the Topps sets, unless you hit an auto /10 or less, you're not likely to get your money's worth.

Can you still buy Survival boxes? I don't see any at the big stores and the boxes on eBay are overpriced.

On a side note, has anyone ever seen a Survival Jeffrey Dean Morgan autograph yet? It's been 2 1/2 years and I have not seen one. Kinda makes me think they were never inserted as stated. I highly doubt they even exist.

They never actually released it. Survival box is an amazing release but they rushed it to get it out hence why this card never has been seen. Same with sketch cards for this series there must be a few prototypes floating around somewhere.

One set where you can get really lucky is Stargate Heroes, usually around $100/box, has 5 autos per box, best chance of hitting Jason Momoa autos in any product

In case anyone is considering buying a box it's 3 autos per box, not 5. You'll probably get one of the 10 VL autos in every box (including Momoa). So 1:10 shot of getting a $200 auto in a $100 box.

Sorry, I meant to say 5 hits, and the other main cast autos still sell well a decade after the set came out

I had a good run with the blasters over-delivering the last couple series -- at least for the price. The bullet Relic was a fun find.

I can’t seem to find season 7 for reasonable price, with retail i don’t want to pay over $10 a blaster for season 7. If blowout did some sales on blaster like in past for $100 for 20 I would be all over them
