Is this real? 97 SPX Promotion Auto

Calling all 90’s experts..

I just won this card on eBay and didn’t realize it was missing the numbering until the auction was already over. doh..

Too bad there isn’t a scan of the back as I know they put the congratulations message on the back for autos. The auto does look like the real deal compared to my other McDyess autos.. There was also a Stoudamire that ended at the same time from probstien that was numbered. Were some of these released without the hand numbering?

Should I pay and wait to see what it looks like in person, or try and cancel?

It's the real deal, just without the hand numbering. I've seen more than one McDyess without hand numbering and only the McDyess, not sure what happened there, but have never seen un-numbered variants of the other cards.

I also saw this auction and when I saw that it was mising the serial number and there was no picture of the back, I decided not to pursue it (even though it wou;dve been a double for me) BUT it does look like the real auto.

Just ask for a picture of the back as the certificate starting with the "congratulations..." should be printed at the back. If it has that, then maybe the hand-numbering was just forgotten on this card? (it's a possibility given that it was hand-numbered)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! As long as it’s legit I think I’m ok that it’s not numbered. Thanks for the info on his cards Abra, that makes me feel better that there are others out there like it. I’ll check that it has the correct back when I receive it, but it would be quite hard (and probably not really worth it) to fake McDyess’s auto. The dude has one of the more unique looking autos out there!

Could it be an after-market autograph? The autograph looks good to me personally either way.
