Default NO SODA for month of July

i drink soda way too much, so i’m giving up soda completely for the month of July. i’m doing it with my friend for added accountability but also wanted to post this here if anyone would like to participate too!

gunna post in here occasionally with what i find as good alternatives (sugar free). please feel free to post your own

i’ll be keeping track of my weight too. no other changes in my diet will take place. i will be doing light workouts (pushups, situps) for 30 mins a day with my off days sat and sun.

Do you drink regular? You can usually drop some serious weight if so

I haven’t had a regular soda in 20 years

I don’t really like diet either but sometimes at lunch I get one

At the house we drink Sparkling Ice. Zero calorie and made with sucralose which is an artificial sweetener sugar substitute. Other than that its Iced Tea or Water. Its slim pickings for drink that have zero sugar/sugar substitute.

I'll be following this thread and look forward to see your results. I quit drinking regular soda about 4 years ago. I switched to diet and average about a 32oz. fountain drink a day. My girl keeps telling me that diet is worse for me, but I need that jolt in the morning. Never cared much for coffee. Considering joining you in this. Man, don't know how long I'd last. Good Luck!

Good for you man! Pop is horrible for you. Only time I ever drink pop is with liquor and it’s usually diet cola from meijer since it’s like $0.50 for a 2 liter and 0 calories lol.

You’ll drop quite a bit of weight pretty quick if you switch to only water. I would recommend trying some crystal light packets. They have 0 calorie ones, and some with caffeine too. They all taste great IMO. I’ll isually have one every couple of days for something different than just water. .

I could never under any circumstances give up Coca Cola. It's all drink. All day everyday. Good luck to you, you're a better man than me.

I make and drink Luzianne iced tea at home. Zero calories. I'll put lemon in it sometimes. But I like the flavor of iced tea by itself so I don't do that often.

Sometimes I want carbonation cause I like to burp. Then I drink mineral water like San Pellegrino. But that crap is stupidly expensive. So I wait for it to go on bulk sale and then stock up on it.

Still have a can of Pepsi from the start of this month. I’m trying to not touch it.

I haven't had a soda in years.
Word of advice though, stay away from diet soda too. It's just as bad if not worse. Don't be fooled by "zero calories." Diet sodas still lead to weight gain amongst other problems.

This. Many people, including myself, are/were ignorant about how diet soda affects your weight. I quit cold turkey around the beginning of the year. Along with better diet and exercise, my weight went from 248# to about 210#. My workouts and dieting weren't extreme by any means, and certainly not enough to fully account for the the weight I lost. The stuff is bad for you...get it out of your diet.

quit drinking soda nearly a decade ago. Sparkling Ice still gives me the carbonation I sometimes crave without most of the bad stuff in soda

Good luck buddy, it really does wonders for you. I had a bad habit with Cokes about ten years ago, dropped them and really have not gone back(sprite or a root beer once and a while). You will feel so much better and lose weight. I stick to water, coffee and tea.

I quit soda 3 years ago. Haven't looked back. I feel better and dropped a lot of weight quick. Giving up soda then led me healthy eating

Good luck! I am the only one in my house that doesn't drink pop. I prefer water. Sometimes I will get a lemonade but I don't drink anything else other than that other when I am in Vegas and I will have a few Shirley Temples.

I swore off Coke after a painful bout with kidney stones 15 years ago. Now it's coffee in the morning and unsweet tea and/or water in the afternoons and evenings.

Try Seltzer if you need to feel like you are drinking soda.

My sister is a county bus driver and club soda is her drink of choice. Sometimes she will put some flavoring in it as a change of pace.

2 cokes per day. 31 days. 150 cal * 2* 31 = 9300 calories

You should lose 3 pounds+

He should lose a lot more than that. Yes calories are part of it but the sugar intake is killer. I quit last year for about 6 weeks and dropped 20 lbs easy. Drinking water and only some light walking on a break maybe once a day.

I think I'm going to join you on this one! Once July starts make a new thread and we can all keep each other up to date! Good luck sir!
