A member over here suggested that I post links to threads/blogs I have written in reference to forged/counterfeit Derek Jeter "1995 Upper Deck" cards and Sandy Koufax "2000 SP Authentic" cards.
Thank you collectors. The first link is a Part 2 of my Derek Jeter blog. A link to Part 1 is embedded in Part 2. https://live.autographmagazine.com/p...er-deck-baseba My Sandy Koufax blog. https://live.autographmagazine.com/p...ogPost:1337379 |

Welcome! Great info on the Jeter and Koufax. I've seen both these fakes before. Ted Straka (tntnorthnj) is a seller for a lot of these fakes, as you probably know. He also sells a 1997 Topps 1964 Reprint Willie Mays forged autograph often.

I wished I had noticed these sooner on Ebay. The first time I observed one of the Derek Jeter forged/counterfeit "1995 UD" cards, I knew immediately the Jeter was a forgery, and it wasn't until I scrutinized the card, that I realized it was a counterfeit. There were at least seven NJ/NY Ebay sellers that were listing and selling these week after week. It was no coincidence that as soon as I published my blogs, they stopped listing them (word travels quickly in the hobby). |

Yes, both the Jeter and Koufax forgeries are horrid and penned by an amateur.
The source of these took advantage of the fact that the majority of people who buy autographs, purchase the COA, or in this case, the back of the card. The two primary sellers of these from my observation were TntnorthNJ and Lyonhrt7777. Below is a link to a YouTube video where one of the Koufax forged/counterfeit cards were ripped from what they call a "Steel City" repack. You can forward the video to the 1 hour and 18 minute mark to see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97BJUQDKBFk&t=78s Last edited by cardsforever; 05-11-2019 at 02:33 PM. |

Another hero of our hobby.
Thank you OP, and great work. Ya know, I remember hearing about the tntnorthnj handle years ago with regards to forgeries, counterfeits and the like. I was Informed of a trimmed Ladanian Tomlinson Contenders rc that he was peddling. Makes me wonder, not only has this nonsense been going on for probably longer than were comfortable admitting, but some of these db's must feel untouchable. When these issues have come up in the past, theres outrage, finger pointing, etc.. and then it blows over. That said, its business as usual for these people. I cant thank you guys enough for continuing the hard work, educating the masses and keeping the spotlight on this issue. Keep shining the light guys. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

I have been exposing forgeries for years and I will continue to do so even if nothing gets done. Although recently, something did happen. https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...ny-autographs/ Podsada, years ago, actually posted under one of my blogs trying to convince me that all of his garbage was authentic. Just go to the bottom of the page where he begins. https://live.autographmagazine.com/f...cchi-certified |

I just wanted to do a much more extensive examination of these forged/counterfeit cards which is why I purchased both the Jeter and Koufax forged/counterfeit cards.

Cardsforever,
Are you familiar with the lock-em-up-bob forgeries? I posted on it once a while back here, but this guy (and his brother, if I recall) have been scribbling on 80s and 90s Topps base cards for over 15 years. EBay does not act on them, and neither has law enforcement. https://www.ebay.com/usr/lock-em-up-bob

It's unfortunate that we need to be this careful when buying cards now. Scammers are even forging holograms. Unfortunately, it's not always feasible to tell apart a card based on just the signature. In this case, there's apparently some other small differences like how clear the logo is, hologram differences, etc. that would be very difficult to tell without a known real copy available.
Day by day, it's becoming more difficult to have trust in any particular card. |

OP does an outstanding job exposing the crooks of our hobby. Thank you for all that you do, it is sickening what these people get away with.

I published a blog today concerning the forged/counterfeit Willie Mays "2003 Topps Legends" cards.
Unlike Upper Deck, who are out of the baseball card business, Topps is, of course, still in the baseball card business, so I'll be sending them a link to my blog and other pertinent info. Hopefully, they will act on it. If anyone here communicates with Ebay seller Comc_consignment, someone might want to inform them that their Willie Mays "2003 Topps Legends" listing is one of those cards. |

I agree. Counterfeiting is Counterfeiting. It is sad how this hobby has changed so much for the worst.

Ebay seller Dacardworld also has a forged/counterfeit 2003 Willie Mays Topps Legends Auto listed.
