2019 Bowman Mega-Let the Hunt Begin!!

Found a picture of the box online so I thought we could officially begin the hunt for the boxes. My guess is we could start seeing these online or in stores by mid to late week next week (May 15-17). The Excel marketing team originally stated release as April 17 but that is wrong so could be May 17. Also, appears the price went up but we probably figured that would happen.

I know, guess we'll find out soon how much they produced, and if they'll be value packs or something cheaper than the box.

I believe they dropped the Bowman packs down from 5 to 4 as well. However, you can't tell by the image so it's entirely possible that these are regular Bowman packs and not the "non insert" packs from years past.

Topps, just put the two chrome packs in a blister pack and sell it for $14.99.
They reduced it to 4 packs of base bowman and upped the price by $5?

If those are regular retail packs that would be a good deal. Then that's the same price and number of packs as regular Bowman but you're swapping 2 packs for the mega box packs and losing 2 cards per Bowman pack.

Last year I think the base-only packs were going for $1 each in bulk. That meant $5 per mega pack. If the bowman packs are the same as regular retail that's about $3.33 per mega pack. If not, it's $8 per mega pack which is a lot worse.

I suspect that either the checklist is so bad that they aren't worth buying in bulk at $15 or so good that they're worth buying in bulk at $20.

I'm going to assume the regular packs wont have color. just all base like in years past? the only possible color/autos would be in the 2 chrome packs

I can't imagine the checklist being much improved. If I recall from previous years, they had the sandbox of that year's Bowman release to work with and didn't introduce new cards/players as far as base cards were concerned.

I suppose the auto list is what we're curious about. You also had image variations, but they were of guys that were already included in the earlier Bowman release. Every other insert was just a Mega Refractor'd version of its Bowman counterpart.

So dumb question (probably), but newer to collecting Bowman products:

What is the difference between this and the Bowman retail box that was released in April? They had a mix of Chrome, inserts (special retail inserts too) and base/prospect cards.

Again sorry probably a dumb question.

I wouldn't count on this at all...I have a feeling more are being made and we will see less color. Odds will most likely be higher regardless of less packs, imo. They bumped it $5 b/c they can...I don't think that will deter most on here from buying the whole display...

Mega boxes have two packs with the exclusive mojo refractors. This is what they looked like last year.
