Default 2019 Bowman Baseball! Let’s Go Hunting!

So its release week for 2019 Bowman. One of my favorite products of the year! Pumped!! But what’s the deal with hangers this year!? 2 regular packs instead of 3? Does this mean print run is smaller this year? Trying to make sense of this.

I believe the print run is slightly increased this year. How did you find that there are only 2 packs instead of 3? Have you found some retail already?

no reason to decrease production

I almost loaded up on these on, but seeing the change in packs to 2 and knowing how poorly those camos sold for last year - its a pass until we know about the odds.

That really stinks, basically $5/pack in the hangers not counting the Camos.

last year there were 10 cards per pack. this year there is 12 cards per pack but only 2 packs instead of 3. i hope 1 of 2 things:

1. production decreased slightly (which i doubt but would be cool if topps did this for the faithful)
2. value packs are loaded more than ever. less commons in exchange for a higher percentage of hits; which essentially means smaller print run.

might be wishful thinking here

VERY

there is no need for reduced production nor loaded packs.

Bowman sells itself

Assuming pack odds are the SAME as last year, which I doubt, that would be color/autos in retail would be 25-33% harder to hit than last year, and last year was already very difficult.

I don't think this is going to be good.

wow! if we are getting less packs for the same amount of money and the odds stay the same or even worse, increase, then topps is REALLY SCREWING US!!

With the target coupon I was ready to buy a decent amount. Even with the discount, I’m gonna pass. At least they are making it an easy decision

It’s all good, I’ll just pick up one more hobby box instead! I’d rather burn my money supporting my LCS anyways. Better conversation then at Target lol

Is it too early to check Target? I have a feeling my Targets won't get it in until after the sale.

I'll probably begin checking Friday but these pack reductions are very disheartening! I'll probably end up just saving my money for megas!

My guess is this was Topps' way of retail prices reflecting the hobby price increase without changing the checkout price. Direct cost is up a pretty good amount this year and has been climbing each year since 2015. Instead of making the item more expensive on the shelf, they probably thought the best approach was to modify the merchandise.

Agreed. It's a sleight of hand, hoping that retail buyers are only casual collectors or impulse buyers (probably true in many cases) … unfortunate to say the least because it was lining up to be a decent value this year with the hobby frenzy but not so much now, at least if the odds are not improved.

So the blasters have 10% fewer cards in them.

I made a thread last week about this (with not much reaction).
Guess it takes people awhile to wake up to the truth.
