Would you get this card graded? Or...? What would you do? Also, feel free to make an offer. I've been offered $150.
On the back of the card, it reads, "Presented as a 'Public Service.' By Tom Sasso As an Inspiration for our American Youth Permission granted for release by Official Films" I cannot find any information out about this card. Official Films started in 1939 and changed its name in 1969. As far as I know, it did not own the rights to anything involving Babe Ruth. What I'm assuming is that they planned or did a documentary or short that never came out? Or, we've simply lost the information. Last edited by iluvfish2; 04-08-2019 at 11:48 AM. Reason: This was in B/S/T - merged with Hobby Threads of same title |

I put it up that high due to the 4.5 million rare Babe Ruth Card being auctioned; a guy bought it for $2 from a dealer in Vegas.

how can you in one part of the title claim "TRUE 1/1," yet then the very next thing in that statement is "Only 1 That Exists?"
*RARE *Babe Ruth *TRUE 1/1 *Only 1 That Exists? 3 x 5 Card

I explain fully in the listing. What would you do if you had this card? What price would you put it at? Would you get it graded, etc.?

You are bidding on a Babe Ruth *TRUE 1/1 *Only 1 That Exists? 3 x 5 Card *RARE Look at the pictures carefully for the condition of the card. This card is very rare, perhaps the only 1 that exists?

That is a nice piece you have there, condition aside. I would start by getting all the background information you can and contact PSA about having it authenticated. Once in a PSA slab, then start with hyping it.

Again, I explain in the listing that I do not know if it is. I have scoured the Internet, auctions, books, etc. and cannot find it anywhere. It may be 1/1, it may not be. I don't know. I say that in the listing.

EXACTLY - then why do you boldly claim it to be a "TRUE 1/1"

Are you sure its even a card? Sure it's not a photo? Or something from a book? But what the Fiat guy makes sense. Good luck.

Call PSA, give them all the known information. See if they can do anything with it. If this is some elaborate forgery, they (or BODA) will find out quickly. Good luck.

Because it’s easier to pimp and lie then do proper research.

If you're truly asking questions, it shouldn't be for sale yet. If it's fake, a scam, or you're trying to use this section of the board to drum up interest for your sale, you deserve whatever internet beatdown comes your way. Items that are currently for sale belong elsewhere, there are sections for that sort of thing...this section is not it. Now, if you were simply asking questions and not currently offering it for sale, that would be different. |

That would be considered a card more than a photograph. Who said it was a fake? Is there a Net54 thread? I would be surprised if that is a fake.
If you want to be taken seriously then treat your listings seriously. No one is going to approach you about purchasing the piece with a serious offer if you look like a 14-year old that just discovered keyword spamming. You do realize that no one actually falls for that, right? Arthur |

I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the card. Thank you to everyone who offered helpful suggestions.

I think you’re being pretty disingenuous here. You know enough about cards to use specific terminology like “1/1”. You also claim you don’t know what it is yet. But you’re offering it on eBay at a price you pulled out of your butt, and you’re on here fishing for sales too. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1285364 If you’re genuine, go do research. There are people here who would happily have helped you (and over on Net54 too) but you’re coming at it all wrong by trying to hype it, sell it and ask for info about what it is - all at the same time. |
