My Topps Redemption Replacement

I know there are a lot of stories with these and I just received one myself.

The card redeemed was a Craig Kimbrel/John Smoltz 2013 Topps Supreme Dual AU /25. This card would have been great since I not only super collect Kimbrel but am also a big Braves fan.

The card I received as a replacement yesterday was this:

Definitely could have been worse even though Yu hasn't been all that relevant of late.

That sounds like a complete let down given your a Braves fan and probably have no need for a Darvish auto. Wish topps would take a collectors team preference in consideration when issuing replacements.

If its a dual auto they should also replace it with a dual auto or at least send the same team. ugh, what a joke

I’m a Braves fan. Big one. Here’s my take.

Topps Supreme is a pretty bad product TBO. And that dual would have def been stickered if I had to guess.

Sounds like a $50 card.

If Darvish bounces back, it’ll be even. If not, you got hosed.

You'd have to think they would have a lot of Smoltz/Kimbrel/Glavine autos in overflow stock and could maybe send you 2 of them...crazy

If you’re persistent with topps, will they give a replacement? I’ve never been in a position to do so myself so I have no idea how the process works. I stay clear of redemptions, but just curious if you could fight this. There’s no way this is a fair trade.

In this case, no. They will not give a replacement for this card as they have determined the card you received was "equal or better value." According to the blurb that pops up when you request a replacement, they determine the cards value by using "Beckett and eBay" prices. So, in my opinion, they found the lowest value that card has ever sold on eBay and acted accordingly.

Sorry you didn't get the card that you wanted, but as you also mentioned, it definitely could have been worse.
And that Darvish sig is actually pretty nice. Many of his autos are quite streaky, but yours is clean.

I've had up and down luck with redemption replacements. If I were a Braves fan, I wouldn't be happy with this replacement. It seems like the replacement "program" at Topps is only getting worse.

Man I wish they would send me that card, last one sold for $59.

I'd be happy if they sent me a card that books for at least 200.

an injury prone pitcher that hasnt been getting the job done for a DUAL that includes a HALL OF FAMER............................

Thanks for all the responses.

The BV for the Darvish is $200. I'm assuming they went off of that. There is no BV for the Smoltz/Kimbrel Dual.

Obviously it would have been nice to get a Braves card or another nice dual. Sad thing is this wasn't the first time I've tried to redeem for this card. The replacement they gave me the first time was amazing yet this one was a let down. This is the card they sent me the first time when I requested a replacement since they said they were still waiting for the player to sign and return the card. I didn't feel like waiting it had been over a year. This time they just sent the Darvish without me asking for a replacement. I guess now I know 100% the original card will never show up.
