Default Luis Severino - which guy shows up in 2019?

I am interested to hear what people think about Severino this year. He looked like two different guys last year from the beginning of the year to the collapse at the end of the year. Did he just get tired? It almost looked like guys knew what pitches were coming when I watched him down the stretch. I am curious to hear if people think he returns to his early season form again or if we continue to see the struggles we saw at the end of last year.

He didn't get tired. He was still throwing 99 mph fastballs late in games. However, he was missing spots.

I'm thinking he can learn from this with another season under his belt. He's only gotten better and fatigue has not been an issue with him.

Batters made adjustments to him.

All depends on if he made adjustments to counter them.

I tend to agree. It did not look like his stuff disappeared but like I stated originally, it almost seemed like the betters knew what was coming. Has he been linked to tipping pitches at all? Someone with his stuff should not get shelled the way he was even if he was missing spots.

He was tipping his pitches and they figured out how so hopefully he'll be back to the guy we saw in the beginning of the year.

Could very well have been hitter adjustments as the line-drive rate almost doubled late in the season.

Not sure about tipping pitches though in the regular season. Definitely in the Boston game that has been well documented.

Guy is still only 24 years old (Will be 25 before end of month)with amazing stuff.

I see this guy continuing to improve. I think he will definitely be in the Cy Young hunt this year barring a freak injury.

Mariano has said he is going down to ST to 'show the P group how to pitch instead of throw hard'.

Maybe as someone who was able to repeat his delivery for years (w just 1 pitch) can add some experience to Sevy / others for the upcoming season(s).
