18-19 Prizm Retail: 42 cello packs from Target

The Serramonte Mall Target got a large shipment of retail prizm tonight. They had a bunch of Mega Boxes, Blasters, one full gravity pack dispenser, and 42 rack packs.

I bought all 42 rack packs! Most retail I've bought in one stop. They were $10 a cello pack. So total cost would have been $457 with tax (8.75% in CA). But of course I got a $20 coupon from a Target ad a few weeks ago plus another 5% off for charging on my Target Card. So my discounted total cost $412. Yeah it's a lot of money about the cost of 2 hobby boxes.

With 42 cellos the break down is= 168 total individual packs of which 126 are regular prizm packs and 42 bonus packs with the special parallel prizms

That is roughly 3.5 cello boxes. I believe it's 12 rack packs per cello box. I will break and share results slowly. Not sure if I want to open all 42 cellos. I may keep some sealed. Last year I bought a bunch of retail but at secondary market prices i.e. $100 for a retail box 17-18. I did keep a retail box sealed. So I may do the same with some of the rack packs for 18-19.

Anyways I didn't pick up any blasters or mega boxes or gravity packs. Plenty of those for anyone interested in picking them up. I just grabbed all the cellos. Although someone else must have bought the other 6 rack packs. Since there should have been a total of 48 of them.

You do know that gravity feeds are meant to be purchased by the pack, right? So someone is ridiculous if they buy two packs instead of the whole 36, or are you just assuming somebody took them home, opened them, pulled out the purples, and resealed the rest?

I would assume somebody weighed the packs. The purples are a little bit thicker stock so yes I wouldn't be surprised if somebody was able to peg which two packs they were. Tons of ppl on here have witnessed guys with scales at Target. Either way, my money would be on the fact that the purples are gone.

At $3 a pack, it's not unheard of for someone to just buy $15 worth of packs for fun. I wouldnt always automatically assume the hits were pulled and the rest is crap. Not everyone is hard core.

My experience in this area is that those packs get searched pretty quickly. The whole gravity box was removed from the wall as well. Maybe I am wrong and the two purples are still in the box but I tend to doubt it.

Not a bad idea. The part about returning the cellos that is. But the gravity packs are probably gone.

Last Friday afternoon still had about 12-15 packs left. Did not get any.

Thanks for commenting guys. Last Friday went back to Serramonte Mall. They still had blasters and some gravity packs. All the MEGA boxes were gone. But I think WalMart's mega boxes are better pricewise at least. Still have not opened the 18 cellos from Thursday. Again not sure if I want to return them, keep them sealed, or just be a degenerate gambler and bust them.

Given how bad the 24 cellos were decided to pick up 4 blasters last Friday. Another bad choice on my part. Here are the results-

Maybe no purples, but still probably 3 Silver RC's, One auto and tons of Green Parallel's. I may have bought the rest. But that is just me.

So I went to the Colma, CA Target last Monday. They had of course the 10% discount on trading cards last week. Plus my 5% red card discount. What would have been $70 plus tax was now about a $55 break. Nice savings. The Colma Target had blasters and 1 lone cello pack. Break started out decent and ended very well. Here are the results-

After opening the first 2 blasters I noticed a trend. The bottom 2 packs do not have prizms or hits. So for blaster 3 I opened the bottom packs first, the top pack next, then the thick pack which is always a jersey. Usually the 2nd and 3rd packs in blasters have the prizms.

You never know with those gravity feeds. First one I found this year had 35 and no auto, but 2 purple pulsars. Last weekend I found another with 35. Figured no auto but I get the better stuff. To my surprise there were 2 autos and 3 purple pulsars. Ya just never know.
