As I stated in an earlier thread, I am a relatively novice collector but focus on Bowman Chrome. I am wondering, who are the most sought after prospects this year, aside from the obvious household names?

Quickest way to get that answer is just do a completed auction search on ebay, see who goes for the most.
Many collectors here will not divulge their "sought after" names as they do not want competition for their purchases. They put the time and effort into doing the research and don't like to just give that out. You can also look at the ending prices in Houdini's 10-case auctions by player in the case break section of this forum, that should be a good indicator. |

If you want a real, unbiased answer, look at the closing prices on the 5-case player auction that closed on eBay yesterday.

There’s a Beckett.com article that just came out regarding this.

You mean you didn't get that from the print version down at the newsstand with the shoe shine box out front?

Yes, but it's Beckett, so it's probably not very accurate.

idk what the big secret is..
Kristian Robinson Luis Garcia Carter Kieboom Estevian Florial Luis Urias/Yordan Alvarez Also, Kristian Robinson has no color autos so his autos are going up, a lot like what happened Jo Adell last year in 2017 Draft. |

I am about to get back into prospecting. I make it more of an involved process than most. Max preps, perfect game, baseball america, bleacher reports, baseball factory and then about 40, or so, regional based news outlets. sorting hype, rumor, speculation, while viewing the talent suggested vs teams, batters/pitchers face and using a math approach to players in other regions, can be time consuming, but if it is a hobby, it is fun. Nothing beats picking those 10-20 that sneak up, 10 cards hitting 5.00, 1.00 autos bringing 50 and 100. The selling end is nice, don't get me wrong, but being there 1st, is pure pleasure ![]() You also have to understand how each teams needs effect the draft, the order and how it effects placement/pick slot and understand that the bright and shining tops usually, not always, end up in the same caliber ranges as a healthy pile of 2nd and 3rd round picks Then again, you can simply ride each wave. keep in mind those that put in the work are the ones you end up buying those rapidly gaining players cards from. Prospecting is terribly involved at certain levels. You just have to decide where you want to be in the process. Good luck

I disagree. He has no color autos but his base are not SP like Adell. Actually, the Adell and Robinson situation are nothing alike. I think this initial surge into the $100-$125 range will settle back down in the $70-$80 range. Top 5 and he gets to the $250-$300 range.

Ok Don't know but saving this post to come back to. Prospecting is just that lottery with hopefully good results. Chris Sale was mine in 2010/2011 with many failure picks afterward

Look up the top sellers in Houdini breaks, at that point do your research on the players. Most of the top guys are very young with only 1-2 years of experience and 3-4 years from the majors if not more. I enjoy finding a guy and then collecting him and watching how he grows. Worked with my soto collection, just sold it a year early.

Lol, love it. It takes tremendous time to do the research. I've also found a few friends that can break down a players swing or pitching style. It all helps!

None. Almost everyone in this product remains overpriced right now. Wait a few months for prices to come down.
