Default First Trip to Las Vegas: Any Suggestions?

Coming up here in a few weekends, I'm flying out to Vegas with a few of my friends (all early/mid-20s guys). We don't really have much in place, but we get out early Saturday morning and fly back late Monday night. Staying at the Luxor, and have reservations for Hell's Kitchen on Saturday (I've heard mixed reviews, but I'm a big fan of the show...so I had to).

Curious for any recommendations on things to do, places to eat, stuff to see, preferred places to gamble (mostly a blackjack player), or anything else you might recommend. None of us have been before, so any info is good info.

Fremont Street is interesting. A lot of different people, dive bars and casinos, and street shows.

Drugs, alcohol and strip clubs.

That's Vegas, right?

I've only been there like twice, but somehow survived them both. Yay.

I’ve been to Vegas quite a few times. Here is what I suggest:
Hash House A Go Go at The Linq (humongous portions and great food and not too expensive)
Gordon Ramsey BurGR at Planet Hollywood (best burger I have ever had)
LevelUp at MGM (very fun mechanical horse game and several skill based slots and several TVs and a bar)
High Roller at the Linq (make sure you go at night)
Fountains at Bellagio
The buffet at Caesars is amazing but costs 50 bucks each
Fremont St is interesting especially if you like to people watch not my type of thing though
Heart Attack Grill on Fremont Street never eaten there but walked by there and was pretty funny to look in
There are several things to do in Vegas besides gambling so much good food and lots of people watching

The best memory I have from Vegas last year is Taco Bell Cantina by Planet Hollywood. Go after midnight for maximum effect.

First timers just need to take in the scene (people watch). Walk the Strip one night. Hit Fremont the other.
Free stuff: Try to watch at least 2 fountain shows @ Bellagio. Pirate battle at Treasure Island is cool too. Still have the lions at MGM?
Work in a stop to the Stratosphere on Fremont trip. Great view from top at night.
24-hr buffet at Harrah's casinos (7 different?). Time it right to get 4 meals.
BJ tables have tight rules all along strip. O'Sheas or Casino Royale might be only ones with more relaxed rules.
Head off-strip if serious about gambling. Southpoint is my fave. (Double deck BJ w/standard rules)
If gambling for fun, Planet Hollywood has lingerie models dealing.
Don't pay for drinks if you're gonna gamble. And don't drink cheap Coronas unless you need a chaser. If they're giving you free drinks, get doubles of Crown, Jack, or whatever you like.
Get a road beer when leaving the table to go to the next casino.
(but don't mix too many different alcohols)
Save sleeping for the flight.

Start a group text. Make sure everyone deletes on the plane ride home.

Play blackjack until 6 am everyday.

Don’t be the rookie at the craps table who keeps saying seven and asking how to play.

Lead on some hookers at the hotel bar at 2 am, boosts your confidence for hitting on non hookers.

Definitely hit the high roller Ferris wheel at the Linq. And Fremont Street is a must. Love the Luxor so good choice in hotels!

MGM has an awesome pool complex, it is my favorite, and the rooms are inexpensive. I love their Lazy River. Mandalay Bay has a pretty nice one too as it has a wave pool and also a lazy river but their's is smaller than the MGM one. Mandalay Bay is more expensive, probably a little nicer than MGM, but the MGM is nice enough for me.

Here are my thoughts on Vegas. I go to Vegas 2-3 times a year for over the past 10 years.

Since you're staying at the Luxor, I wont go into details on where to stay. What I like about the Luxor is you are walking distance from alot MGM and New York New York.

Shows
Carrot Top at the Luxor is easily the best comedy show I have been to in Vegas.

Cirque de Suleil is spectacular. My favorite was Zumanity and my least favorite was Love.

Food
The buffet at the Bellagio is legit. It's about $50 a person but the quality of the food is amazing and they have a wide variety of selections.

Mesa Grill by Bobby Flay is in Caesars Palace and is great. The menu is small but the dishes are very good. This is pricey. This one is rival to hell kitchen but I enjoyed this one better.

Prime steakhouse at the Bellagio is the best. You sit outside right next to the fountains. If you go at night, makes for spectacular scenery. Everything is a la carte here. I took my special lady here and we dropped almost $400 on dinner. We each had a steak, one side, and one glass of wine. Very pricey but the food was tasty and scenery is unbeatable.

If you want to go off the strip (4 miles) try a Mexican Restaurant called Lindo Michoacan (2655 E. Desert Inn Rd). This is probably one of two restaurants in the USA that serve authentic Mexican food. You can eat alot for about $40 per person. This is a must every time we go to Vegas.

Free Stuff
The water fountain shows at the Bellagio.

The garden at the Bellagio next to the front lobby, truly amazing.

The volcano show outside at the Mirage at night.

Take a picture at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. It's just south of the Mandalay Bay on Las Vegas Blvd near the airport.

Walk inside the Venetian. You'll feel like you're in Italy.

Freemont Street Experience
This is about a mile north of the strip. Some people call this "poor man's Vegas." Its truly spectacular, with overhead bright lights, people zip lining above you, old men in thongs looking for donations, fat chicks in pasties n thongs looking for donations, random magicians, artists, etc looking to perform for you for a small donation. This is very affordable. Freemont street also has casinos which smell like tobacco alot.

Having said all this, Freemont St is a must, preferably at night.

Drinks
Drinks are expensive. Just be prepared to pay up. No way around it. The only way to get free drinks is to gamble and get drinks from the waitress that walks around asking gamblers for drinks. The drink is free as long as you gamble, but please do tip the waitress accordingly.

I did notice that over on Freemont, they serve more alcohol and less expensive. I paid $10 for a mixed drink of Vodka and Sprite. The bar tender put three shots of vodka and filled the rest with soda in a big cup. That was super strong and kept my buzz going for a bit.

Pools
The pool at the MGM is really the best one. Well attended by the bar tenders and a long lazy river.

Rides
Ride the High Roller at the Linq. It's a huge ferris wheel that slowly does the loop. Each bucket holds about 20 people, you you'll be with some strangers. It has 2 to 3 TVs and speakers which narrate you what you are seeing and gives historical insight. This whole ride takes exactly 30 minutes. Dont get sucked into paying for the open bar bucket, which basically has a bar and bar tender inside the bucket. Its about 30 dollars more expensive but there's no way you will drink 30 bucks in alcohol in 30 minutes. If you want to drink while on the ride, get a drink at the bar before you board and take it in.

The roller coaster at the New York New York is okay.

The Stratosphere has rides that are crazy high in the air. Never been on those but if you're into roller coasters, these would be it.

Default First Trip to Las Vegas: Any Suggestions?

If you have a rental, I’d suggest meals off the strip whenever possible..firefly happy hour, Fat Choy, Rolling Smoke BBQ. If you guys are big drinkers make sure you stock the room with a few bottles, you don’t want to be slave to continue gambling in order to get free drinks...mix up a large roadie to take on your adventures. As far as shows I highly recommend Absinthe. Fremont and east Fremont is a fun break from the strip.
Drink plenty of water

As others have stated, if you are looking to drink, drinks can get expensive. You can drink in public while walking down the street, buy tall boys at a convenience/liquor store for the walk.

If you are looking to do a show, I agree with the suggestion of Absinthe at Caesar’s, one of the best shows I’ve seen.

Go to the El Cortez. Find the $5 3:2 Blackjack table. Bet $5 a hand for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, jump your bet up to $50 and wait for the tap on the shoulder to be told you're no longer welcome to play blackjack there. You can mark that as your first casino back off.

I ate at Hell's Kitchen with a group of 8 a few months ago and everyone loved their meal. Plus the atmosphere and the view are fantastic!

If you're betting at the sportsbooks, tip the teller a few bucks and ask if they have any drink tickets.

I was over at the Cosmo just a few weekends ago. Cosmo is your place for eye candy all day and especially at night!!

We dont get much mexican food up here, I made the hike up to Tacos El Gordo beside the wynn. Great Tijuana style street tacos.

Eggslut and Secret Pizza at Cosmo. Also try out Holstiens burger joint there for shakes.
MJ 1 show at Mandalay Bay. If you like MJ songs. Great show in my opinion and cheap.
Short rib eggs benedict at the Henry in cosmo for breakfast. Youll thank me later!
