Default Happy 4th of July!! Please tell me your favorite NON HOFers from your childhood!

I hope everyone has a safe and great 4th of July! If you are serving overseas or here this 4th thank you for you service.

I thought a fun post if you guys want to participate would be to list your favorite non hall of famers from your childhood.

Here's my rules:

1. Since this is a football forum just football players please; can be college, NFL, USFL, XFL, CFL you get the idea.

2. These have to be players not currently in the Hall of Fame or guaranteed locks like Manning or Brady.

3. Guys from your childhood. Not guys your dad loved that you never saw play but grew up hearing about or guys you've loved as an adult. I'll define childhood as about 4 or 5 when you start having your earliest sports memories to your teenage years. I consider teenagers kids. Sort of that period when players are still heroes to you.

4. List players from your favorite team as well as other teams.

Thanks for all that choose to participate. I was born in 1976 so mine will be 80's and early 90's heavy. Here's mine:

Dallas Cowboys: Bill Bates, Jim Jeffcoat, Ed TOO TALL Jones, Mark Tuinei, Darren Woodson, Danny White, and Jay Novacek.

Other Teams: William the refrigerator Perry, Doug Flutie, Louis Lipps(Mainly because of the name and the Coke Commercial), William Thomas(Because he's from Amarillo and signed a card for me as a kid), Roger Craig, Ickey Woods(Mainly because of the shuffle), Christian Okoye, and I'll slip Zach Thomas in here since he was in college when I was a teenager but played his pro career out when I was an adult.

Darren

Woodson

They still haven't replaced him. I've got nearly all of his cards, inserts, autos, parallels, etc. I customized a Starting Lineup for him and sent along a binder of every one of his base cards to him sometime around '99, and he sent me back his game used gloves from the OT win vs. Washington. Pretty sure it was the game that Ismail caught a bomb from Aikman to win it. Sadly, they were only beginning the drought that's now upwards of 20 years without deep playoff runs. I admired the hard work ethic and loyalty of Woodson through the end of his career, and still do to this day.

Thanks for the response! I am a huge Woodson guy as well. I think he should be in the Hall. Unfortunately the Hall is notorious for not letting many safeties in.

Being a UT fan, I'd have to say Ricky Williams I had an absolute blast watching in college. Absolutely incredible running back. Should have been an Hall of famer.

Second if Vince Young, incredibly entertaining.

Third, sorry guys....Tim Tebow. What a great college player.

I always liked Errict Rhett when I was younger. I slowly started collecting him along side Barry but eventually just stuck to Barry. Glad I did! This card is always a good reminder though...

YES! I collected Errict Rhett also. I followed him until he left Tampa Bay. I remember being so excited pulling the redemption from 1994 Score for his Gold Rush Rookie Card in his NFL uniform. I still have it to this day.

Calvin Johnson.

He’s definately not a lock and I don’t think he gets in because his career was too short

For me, it was Jeff Garcia and Daunte Culpeper (MIN, not MIA)

As a Niner fan, Garcia was wild to watch. A little unorthodox at times, but put up awesome numbers.

I remember watching a lot of Culpepper. When he got drafted and sat for a year, my dad picked him 1st round of the 2000 Fantasy draft and boy, did that pan out for him. Even though he was the reason I didn't finish 1st, he was fun to watch and play with Robert Smith, Randy Moss and Cris Carter

Deon Grant

Growing up a die hard Vols fan I will never forget the Interception he made against Florida in 1998. He was one of my all time favorites.

Jessie “The Hammer” Tuggle was my favorite player. Put in work everyday on the field. Just stuck on bad teams.
