Default Submitting to BGS after COMC grading

I'm curious if anyone has had good or bad experiences sending cards to BGS after they had been graded by COMC. With 3 COMC people reviewing, I would expect pretty consistent results, but I'd love to hear feedback from the community. I recently sent a handful of cards to BGS after COMC gave them a Mint grade, but they still have a few weeks left to process.

I've had mostly good experiences with it. The cards almost always come back a week early for me. They usually post to the account on Thursday morning. One weird thing I have been noticing, though, is that grades tend to come in batches. I sent a dozen cards in and most came back as 9. Then I sent 30 cards and all but one came back as 9.5. Then I sent six more cards and all came back as 9.

Surely this is coincidence but still odd.

Good luck with your grades.

usually get BGS 9's when using COMC grading. usually get 9.5 9.5 9 9 grades. doesn't seem to be coincidental. BGS grading is laughable.

cracked out a few and got PSA 10's on each.

to answer your question more directly.... i did once grade a card with COMC, and got a mint grade on it. graded it with BGS and it got a BGS 5.

the card was creased. COMC refunded me for the cards value, since it was creased when they first evaluated it.... and had they noticed the crease upfront I would've been able to return it.

i do think besides that 1 bad instance, COMC review is pretty good and if they say your card is MINT you should be looking at a BGS 9+ and usually a BGS 9.5 or 9.5 9.5 9 9

Thanks for your feedback. I got 20/25 9.5s (and one 10) on my latest submission through COMC/BGS, but I didn't submit those cards to COMC grading review prior to doing so. I have a bunch of COMC graded cards that I will be firing over to BGS, so I will update this thread once I have those back.

I had a vintage card reviewed by COMC as NM, which was then graded by BVG as a 5.5 . It was in pack fresh condition, but with centering issues. Since it was BVG, I didn't get to see any subgrades to see why they graded it lower, but I suspect it was the centering.

Overall, I was very happy with the ability to have COMC review the card and to have it professionally graded. It would be nice if you could submit to PSA, but I really like the concept.

Do you all know if they clean the cards at all before sending them for grading? I wish they would mention that part or offered that service.

Update: I submitted 11 cards that were graded "Mint" by COMC grading to BGS through the COMC submission process. Here's how they came back.

8.5 - 2 (centering was the issue on both, with one card getting an 8.5 for corners)
9 - 1 (centering was the issue)
9.5 - 7
10 - 1 (centering was .5 from black label)

COMC did a good job, but I would advise looking at front and back centering before submitting "Mint" cards to BGS through COMC.

So COMC was right on 9 out of the 11. Pretty decent. Thanks for the update.
