Default Non auto color... like or not?

For a prospect you are collecting... What is your opinion of non auto color refractor?

If they can be had cheap, I buy them up.

Just wondering what others think.

That's basically all I buy. Keeps the cost low when I miss but still allows me to turn a profit when I hit.

This. It's less of a gamble money wise. Plus those lower print parallels will be in demand once the secret is out on someone that is successful.

I agree with Ray27Ray52 and JrFinest. I love buying non auto color. Usually will sprinkle a few base autos in with them as well. Sometimes I find that I can buy an orange non auto for the price of a base auto.

Love me some non-auto color, moreso than autos even.

Non-autographs and low end base autographs are usually where you can make the biggest ROI. A $10 card going to $20 is a lot more likely than a $500 card going to $1,000.

Have long been a rookie card logo buyer, still am, but recently have turned my attention to non auto first bowman color, chrome or paper. A player has many rookie logo cards, but only one 1st Bowman (well should only have one, we know Topps messes this up occasionally). Really been enjoying collecting this way recently.

I’ve been selling on comc and love non auto color lots I can snag cheap. Especially Bowman. People are always dumping them.

Love. Especially gems. Pop report tends to be very low given most people don't get them graded.

This is what so many fail to realize.

If the card has borders then yes. If not then generally not. I just don't like the look of color on cards without borders, which I apply to autos too.

I mainly collect lower priced guys though so often I won't buy stuff because shipping is just as expensive as the card unless I can get it on COMC, in a lot, or from a seller I'm already buying from. Just not worth it to pay $3 shipping on a card less than $5.

shhhhhhhhhh...I've been making an absolute killing on non auto chrome color the past 12 months. I'll take a nice gold chrome over a base auto any day of the week.

If I want to put together a TC rainbow I prefer chasing the non-auto one all day

I’ll buy non auto colors and grade them. TC always grades well and you can easily make profit. Issue is bgs rate change makes it harder

95% of my PC is non-auto color. Alex Wood and Mike Foltynewicz never got good RC on-card autos, so I prefer the non-auto stuff.

This is same for me. I buy low numbered refractors of the players I like, but rarely buy autos of them.

I’m also much more interested in non-autos. I prefer the clean look of the card and don’t think there is anything rare about a signature, especially for stars who will spend the rest of their lives signing.

I focus on Topps Flagship however. I do agree that years that lack borders are less appealing to the eye.
