Default Best franchise player: Anthony Davis or Joel Embiid?

Both led their teams to successful season, who's your 1st pick as franchise player if you're a GM?

Who's to say one of those two are the #1 pick as a GM? Lots of guys like LeBron, Curry, Durant, Giannis, Ben Simmons, Harden, Westbrook, Mitchell, Lillard, etc. Embiid and Davis are young and talented, but both injury-prone. Not sure why you think #1 is down to those two at the end.

Also, if you're talking about just looking at only those two (instead of looking at entire pool of talent), it's Davis >> Embiid right now.

Right now Embiid is far too efficient as far as TO's go.

AD is in his prime now

Come on now, making the Embiid call isn't that crazy. He's played his 2nd season and got out of the 1st round, took AD 7 seasons. He's also in the East and they should have a deep run next season.

Who knows what the hell NO will do next season.

I love Embiid as a player ,but if I had to start a team tomorrow I take AD everytime. Investing in which one would be the better poll. Much closer.

Right, but if Embiid reaches his peak as a player it would be the player AD is now. They both have injury concerns, but long term I would worry about Embiid's injury history much more than ADs. AD came into the league with more maturity, basketball IQ and all those intangibles than Embiid IMO.

Obviously the poll is a full hypothetical question so there is no right or wrong answer. I just think it's AD by a long shot, and I think he will continue to get better.

Forget about the injuries for a second: AD is only a year older than Embiid. One year. Let that sink in.

How on Earth can you take Joel over him? If anything, AD should be the number 1 pick when starting a franchise right now.

AD is just now entering his prime, so he's gotta be the pick if salaries / all else is equal.

However, this is Embiid's first real healthy offseason... so I'm intrigued by that. He's already a physical monster but if he shows up in September in better shape and with endurance, all bets are off.

AD.

Embiid is Mr. Glass waiting to happen. He's going to be a great player and explosive, but I can already see him being injury prone. I feel teams will be lucky to get a half season out of him; he's got probably 3 or 4 more productive years before a massive decline occurs. I've seen it happen to often in the NBA and I am firmly placing him under that category.

Its AD over everyone in the NBA not named Lebron, KD, and Curry.

And Curry is debatable.

I would add Kawhi and remove Curry.

Comparing AD to Embiid is just ridiculous.

Embiid has played 6 months of super basketball.

AD is working on a 6 year career that is ALL TIME great legendary tracking stuff.
