Default Babe Ruth Sig on a Stamp?

Just opened a box of Leaf Cut Sigs and at first was skeptical.

Never expected a Babe Ruth signature on a stamp with this product.

Any idea what something like this is worth? It's a tiny signature compared to the other Ruth's autos out there.

Thanks for the help!!!

I used to collect stamps, and I think that is pretty darn cool! I would guess the value would be in line with other Ruth autographs. You should have the auto graded, then try and sell it.

Very nice hit in my opinion. Congrats!

Thanks Wheeler-

I guess a stamp is better than the index cards and checks they cut out.
At first I was discouraged because it's so small of a sig, but oh well.

I don't think it's bad at all. I'd say you have something very rare that crosses over several markets. I would think it might appeal to not only card collectors and autograph collectors, but possibly stamp collectors. After all, I would assume nearly all serious stamp collectors would have heard of Babe Ruth, and I would further assume that they would want the distinction of being one of only a few to possibly own a stamp with his signature on it.

This might sell very, very well. Please post here if you're going to sell it.

I think something like that is very cool. Reasons being it is a cross collectible. Something a stamp collector would love to have & something a baseball/Babe Ruth collector would love to have.

Also it is very unique. How many cut index card autos of there of Babe Ruth? How many Babe Ruth auto'd stamps are there out there?

I think being on a stamp, you may be able to fetch a premium from a serious stamp/baseball collector.

Nice hit either way, if you have time, can we get a better picture?

Thanks for sharing.

4000 - 5000, but I'd need to see a close up to get a better idea of the sig quality.

And I've sold a Ruth auto and done a lot of research on it, just so you don't think is out of my behind.

Thanks for the input. I've been aggressive in ramping up my PC. Not sure what I will end up doing with this item. I do collect a lot of vintage stuff, so I'm leaning towards holding it for the time being. I will try to break out my good camera and post a nicer/cleaner pic later tonight.

I had some earlier correspondence with Brian Gray at Leaf/Razor last month, so I sent him a new email asking his opinion about this item. I'm curious if it's one of the top 3 or 5 hits in the series.

FYI- for those of you that collect 1950-60s baseball; my mother-in-laws father is having me sell off his collection by piecing it out. From the early pics I saw, they are in Very Good condition, all were placed in cases when he got them back in the day.

Not to lessen your pull since it's most assuredly awesome, but I seem to recall a similar Babe Ruth card with an autographed stamp (the same stamp in fact) in the 2005 Donruss Signature Series Signature Stamps checklist.

Great card BUT another razor fail IMO. Once again going a bit low end on their high end cuts. Its getting silly, the high end cuts are either falling apart, on a piece of super stained paper, or this literally on a stamp.

While I would kill for that card they need to step up and buy some real nice cuts, not keep cutting corners and showing gem mint 10 cuts on the sell sheet. with tiny print saying "these are examples not the real deal"

Donruss used a signed stamp for Ruth in one of their products also.I believe it was a 2005 product.Perhaps Donruss Signature.I may be wrong on the product and year.

I actually think the opposite, Razor did step up and buy a nice Ruth autograph in this case. A Ruth signed stamp is going to sell for more than an autograph on a piece of paper most of the time. Most Ruth autographs on a piece of paper sell for around $2k, searching the Heritage Auction archives, I see a Ruth signed stamp sold a couple of years ago for $4500.

Now if the OP would post a nicer scan of the item so we could tell if the autograph is nice and bold or not, then we could better comment on whether Razor went cheap or not on the autograph.

I keep getting errors every time I tried to re-load the newer pic.
Can someone PM me their email address and I will send it over for one of you to add?
I tried this morning, got frustrated, and just gave up.

Thanks and Sorry!

Notice I said a Ruth autograph on a piece of paper, and not a Ruth cut auto card. But if you are asking where you can buy a Ruth autograph on a piece of paper for $2k, sign up for any major sports auction house.

Here's five Ruth autographs from Heritage Auctions from the past six months:

The first one sold for $2k, the next two sold for $2300 each, and the last two sold for $2500 each. So with just a little work you can find a Ruth autograph for $2k, if you don't want to wait to find one for $2k, you can easily buy one for $2.5k or less.

Now I hope a card company wouldn't be mega cheap and buy this Ruth autograph for $1750 that you can hardly see because of where on the photo it is signed:
