Cool Been a LONG time guys! Collected some amazing stuff.... But...

Hello Everyone!

For those that don't know me. I am based out of Oahu, Hawaii and moved here from Michigan a few years ago. I am one of the older collectors... How old... Well.... Let's just say I have fond memories watching the 3 stooges when I was younger and I was very excited when I and my brother got a black and white tv in our room.... Just to give you a hint... LOL! And Thanos is my favorite character of all time, hence my name...

Now.... I have not been on here in a very long time... There are many new members on here now.... And I am currently looking for some help in procuring a cgc 7.0 of Amazing Spiderman 129. I actually sold my own on this board and I have been on cgc boards and a few others but they have not been the most forthcoming in offering help...

In saying that, I wish to post some of the books I have obtained recently, as they took hard work to acquire while some were from my wife...
I feel it will show the newer members here that I am a collector to be trusted, given the comics that I have... But, I truly don't wish to brag as being humble has led me to have a very positive and lucky outlook on things. But I also want others to know I am a highly serious collector... And due to me having a daughter 15 months ago; I need to have secure paypal payments setup in order to assist me in paying off said ASM 129.

So what do you guys think? Show or don't show. Will it help with my ASM 129 dilemma or not... Thoughts please... Also, I wish to hear why other post their acquisitions... I am very curious to hear...

Nice to post again!!!

Phanos!

Welcome back. That statue is freaking awesome!

Are you asking for trust because you need to make payments on the book? If so I think reputation will trump anything in your collection. I personally don't care if you have million dollar books, if I don't know you, I'm not setting up a payment plan. If not then just looking until someone has it will be all you need. To me, someone who's consistently looking shows me how serious they are.

As for showing off - You'll probably get a ton of different reasons. I don't show off unless its a really big pick up for me and I want to share with others and talk about it and feel good about it.

Thank you for your reply. I see that I will just spread the word that I am looking for an ASM 129 around for a while. And yes, I need to make payments on the comic due to expensive but good quality daycare. Money flow is not what it used to be.

I used to have a good rep on here, but that was long ago... Thanks for the advice.

And yes, I LOVE that statue!!!!

Keep in mind that's just me

I'll contradict myself a little and say for you, showing off might not be a bad idea. Not necessarily for showing what you have but more for creating discussions and allowing a way for people to get to know you. Showing off a book you picked up will create dialog and interaction with other members, may lead to stories and PMs and possibly even friendships. Those friendships can help branch out your search i.e you and I become friends, you build trust with me, I see your book at a show and pick it up for you.

I have a friend I met thru a card show, we talked, he made some purchases, built my trust and now I'll drop a grand on cards I know he wants because I know he's good for it regardless if he can pay this week or in 6 months

showing books you own offers little relevant credentials in my opinion.

If you have intention to offer books for sale or trade for your #129 then that's probably a good move to spark interest, as many collectors wouldn't sell certain books but may trade a title to get something they want more than what they own.

As for time payments, most sellers I know have a seller risk free system where they take 10% down to hold the book, then set up time payments with a timeframe (i.e. not $1 a week for 10 years) to make the final payment. The seller holds the book until the final payment is made. If the buyer wants to pull their money off the table I've heard of 3 options 1) 100% refund; 2) all payments at that point are surrendered and there is no refund; and 3) a certain % is taken out of the refund by the seller, around 10% to $25%.

Welcome back. If worried about making payments, why not just put away money each month until you have enough to pay off the book. Wish I still owned a copy, sold my 9.4 for $700 many years back.

Good luck with your hunt. I have that statue on pre-order.. exclusive. Being a Thanos fan, that's a grail.. I say skip the punisher book and pick up the statue ... Sideshow has monthly payment plans.

Personally, this is what I do when I want to buy something that I can't just up and buy.

I think showing off high dollar books might kinda have the reverse effect. "You've got X, Y, and Z... Why do you need to make payments...?" That said, you should show off some books just for my viewing pleasure =)

Thanks Cyber Warrior. It's good to be remembered. I have a wife and child and honestly wth my wife it's a better explanation to say this money has been spent and accounted for then to say it's just sitting in the bank

Thanks Spider-Fan. That came to mind for me as well. But I honestly need payments due to having a child and children and coming to the realization that children, daycare, are very expensive!

Especially when you have a younger wife who wants their child to have an outfit for every day in a month

If she is okay with you making payments then don't leave the money in the bank. Put $100 cash, or whatever, into a jar every month and make the purchase when you have enough. It's no different then making payments to the seller, but it'll be easier to find a seller if you don't need payments. Plus, if I was a seller, I'd charge a premium for a payment plan. Chances are that book would be more valuable when you finish the payments then when you started.

NYCC is in October. I start my NYCC jar in January. Spread the hit out over most of the year, before it ever happens.
