Default My first Hobby Box pull

I got back into the game after 30 years and started a rebuild and a collection with my son. I mainly buy singles, but didn't want to deprive the little guy of what it is like to rip packs, something I enjoyed as a kid.

Ended up buying a box of Clear Vision as I like the cards and the price point is good. 2nd pack in I see ink. Now the question is of who. I carefully open the tops of each pack and let my son pull the cards out. I forgot how much fun this is and to see his excitement was worth it regardless of what was pulled.

Quick question, will Panini replace the auto card in your opinion. Look at the right edge, nothing major but still, I would expect a higher level of quality control from a company that sells over $1b a year in cards.

Funny story, my son is more excited about the glass Watt card and Asks me if the Montana is worth money, I say it is, and he responds great let's sell it so I can buy a new Xbox game. The kid is looking for quick flips. Lol

Thanks for looking guys, hope your PC's are growing and you pull some big'ens.

Just to set the facts straight, Panini does not sell over $1 billion a year in cards. Panini Group's 2016 total sales was $698 million (http://www.paninigroup.com/corporate/), and card sales from Panini America is only a small piece of the pie. The website mentions there are over 1000 employees worldwide. If I have to venture a guess, there are no more than 30-50 employees in the U.S. Those who keep complaining about QC issues, just keep in mind the reality of a small number of workers doing a large amount of work. Those who think they can do better (or "less stupid"), are probably overestimating themselves.

Looks like you struck a nerve.
$1bil... $700mil... they make a lot of money...
Great hit! Doesn't hurt to see if they'll replace it. QA/QC are only human and things are going to be missed and dings, chips, and scratches may be overlooked but missing autos, wrong autos and missing patches are not ok. At least not for the overinflated prices they charge for the product. That why Panini has been getting bashed.
Glad you and your son enjoyed the box! Good luck on the replacement if it works out. Great card either way.

Of that $700 million, Panini America may not even bring in 1/10th of that. And note that this is a sales figure, which is not profits. Most of the money goes to the NFL, and what remains of the profit (if any) must be very slim. Otherwise we wouldn't see so many card companies go out of business.

I think many people have this illusion that since Panini is this multi-billion dollar corporation with so much money, why are their hundreds of QC people all slacking off. Well, they're not, and there aren't hundreds of people doing QC and customer service. And the existing QC folks aren't stupid or blind. They're probably just overworked trying to meet tight schedules.

Default My first Hobby Box pull

Thanks guys. It was exciting to pull an awesome card in our first box. Sure it's beginners luck just getting back into the game.

As far as the QC it was just disappointing to pull an awesome card and see a little nick on it. Sure mistakes happen and things can get overlooked, maybe the blade was getting dull and nicked the card. Who knows, we just feel fortunate to have pulled it.

I am prob just nit picking bc it is not bad at all and not really noticeable in a one touch. Nice addition to the HOF PC for now. Unfortunately every card that is pulled is not gem mint 10 or a BGS black label. Lol

Thanks man. Our PC is all over the place but 2 players of focus are Brady and OBJ.

I mainly focus on Rookie cards and cool auto relics of current stars or franchise players. Also HOF on card auto's. I need to get my Flickr Updated.

Just take a deep breath. You may need to check your blood pressure. Great pull.

Use Imgur.

It's easier, with fewer ads, and probably the most solid server base of the photo-sharing sites.
