Us C's fans like to talk and it's clear the 16-17 season is over. It was a huge success. Let's use this to start talking about the future and we can share stories of misery over the final 2 games in the other thread. To start the conversation I'll share some thoughts I posted in another thread regarding my thoughts on how I hope the team proceeds. They have so many options and I'm sure many of us have differing opinions.

Nope. Just realistic. The C's are in an extremely unique position where they are playing in the ECF and have the #1 pick in a month. The next three seasons are going to determine if this team is a championship contender or just another team that tries but falls short (90's Jazz and Sun, early 2000s Nets, recent Hawks, etc.). There have already been multiple threads addressing several questions related to next steps. This just provides a single place to have those conversations.

Plus with all the young players there will be significant impact the hobby as well. Will Jaylen Brown become an all-star? What if Marcus Smart learns to shoot? Can Rozier become a legitimate starter? Will Fultz et. al. be the real deal or flame out? Lots of money could be made or lost here.

And with prospects taking 3-5 years to reach potential these days I think the Celtics and Sixers are in great shape. Marcus Smart is only 22 and he will be a seasoned veteran on this team when the season starts.

Was thinking about doing this but didnt want to be premature. This season has been great, couldnt ask for more really. Definitely looking forward to the draft. I'm all in for fultz, the guy is electric

Agreed, hoping we keep the pick and draft Fultz. Really can't envision us trading it

God i hope not, as unbelievably critical as i was this year, fultz is definitely a next level guy it seems

Just my opinion, but your best bet is to sell high on IT now and trade him.

The future, as mentioned in the OP, is a combo of Fultz, Rozier, and Smart

Ahhhh. Another off season where the Celtics will be involved in every FA out there but will probably land none.

I'm loving the Blake Griffin rumors. 2+a player option? Count me in! A hope Hayward doesn't come. I question Brad's ability to develop young talent and a "teacher's pet" who plays the same position as Jaylen Brown is no bueno in my book. I'm all for bringing in talent but the big picture needs to be on development for the future.

I honestly would be happy if they go into 17/18 with close to the same squad plus Fultz and 1 or 2 stashed players.

I would be very hesitant to commit beyond a couple years on Blake. Will be 29 next season and his injury history is scary. You can also see a clear decline in his athleticism the last 2 years. I worry what kind of player he will be down the road as he continues to age.

They are going to look to add two legit players through FA and trades. It will likely be a crazy offseason. They are poised to go big though.
