Default PSA experts needed -- Crossover question on this gorgeous PC card

Hey all,

I picked this card up last week and it's gorgeous. But my PC is all PSA so I want to send this in to get it in a PSA slab. My only concern is the small black mark on the back (left side). Is this bad enough to get a qualifyer on PSA? I'm kinda torn because it's the highest graded BVG, but it stands out like a sore thumb next to my all PSA collection. Curious as to what everyone thinks and especially what PSA regular graders think about the qualifier chances. Thanks!

I am not as experienced as others here, but I will take a crack at this.
In my opinion, (and its hard to see that mark on my computer screen) the mark is small enough where it *possibly* looks like a dark scratch. Its certainly not like the "obvious" marks that often get the MK qualifier.

That said, I do think theres a chance.
It sounds like you want to send it in and get it reslabbed, but NOT if its going to get a MK qualifier....which you seem to want to avoid.
You could always send it in with a note attached saying "do not crack this out and grade/re-slab if its going to have any qualifiers upon regrading".
Note this is kind of similar to people sending cards in and leaving a "minimum grade" when submitting raw or when they try and bump cards. The companies will not crack it out unless its going to meet your minimum requirements.
I think that might be your best way to go.

But be aware that there is a chance it grades lower, even if it doesn't get a MK qualifier.
It wouldn't surprise me if this card received a 6 when crossed over to a PSA slab.

I assume you are kind of OCD like me (this isn't a bad thing bro, just saying) and you want all your stuff in the same slabs. I get it.
It sometimes gets to me a bit also, in my own collection. Trust me, I am the worst with OCD and wanting everything similar.
But over time I have learned to accept what I have in the holders that I already have them in.
One thing that sort of "outweighs" my OCD on wanting all similar holders, is the GRADE.
I would rather have something in a BVG slab with a 7.5 (which is a fine grade, and nice card BTW~!) than to put it a collection-matching slab with a much lower grade.
Its a very real possibility that card only gets a PSA 6. Ask yourself if you would rather have that in a PSA slab graded a 6, or keeping it in the current slab grading a BVG 7.5?
(Or lets take it a step further, and PSA assigns it a 6, but with the dreaded MK qualifier they drop it to a PSA 4MK) I doubt this, but its not out of the realm of possibility.

I personally would rather have it stay in its nice 7.5 BVG home. A little variation adds character to a collection, but thats just me.

Trust me, I know all about wanting everything slabbed the same exact way and I don't fault you for that.
Ultimately I decided I could deal with a few different slabs though, and I have several PSA slabs and some BGS slabs as well.

Looking at that card over and over, I can't really tell you one way or the other if it would get the qualifier. Its a true 50-50 for me.
I do want to point out though, that from everything I have been reading the last few months, BVG is slowly gaining respectability and is more widely accepted now.
True it may not be PSA, but more and more people are becoming accustomed to using BVG on vintage cards.

I'm a bit anal like you too in that I like my vintage to all be in PSA slabs. With that being said, don't crack it and send it in as a crossover with a minimum grade.

You can send it in to PSA with a no qualifiers submission. It is on their form to not use qualifiers.

However if they do find an issue that normally would get a qualifier it automatically drops the grade by 2 points.

If they felt it deserved the MK and crossed over as a 7.5 your final grade would be 5.5.

As is the corners on that card look like a 7 but measure it as they will min size it if short.

Don't submit it. The card is going to grade a PSA 7 even without the qualifier. It has no chance of grading an 8, so there's literally no purpose in sending it.
