Default Baseball game for Xbox 360

Let me preface this by saying I have never really played video games since the original NES (which I still have and play occasionally).

My nephew gave me his old 360 so I could play FIFA with him. He has newer systems and didn't need it. So I have just that one game. I'm looking for a baseball game to make it an even two. I see there aren't any new ones made for 360 so I'm going to get one of the older MLB games. Is there a particular year that is better than any other? One in particular to avoid? Keep in mind I will play VERY casually and have no interest in upgrading the system. I don't like any other types of games so I don't see the point. I don't mind old rosters. Obviously I'm a cubs fan but those rosters would be rough. I lived in New York during the 09 Series run for the Yankees and practically lived at the stadium that year so I was thinking of getting MLB 09 or MLB 10. Does it really even matter? Like I said - total noob.

What baseball game do you play on NES? I was looking to buy one but didn't realize there were so many and they are so hit or miss...

I have Bases Loaded, RBI, and Bo Jackson. Of those I like RBI best. I never play Bo Jackson, I got it when I was a kid because I was a huuuuuuge fan.

i was always a fan of Baseball Sim 2.000 on the NES. could create and save rosters etc, and play in freaking space haha. batters and pitchers had powerups that made the game fun as well.

anyway, there hasn't been an Xbox baseball game since the last year they made MLB 2k13. The game just couldn't compete with The Show series as far as gameplay/ratings (which is a PS exclusive), and sales kept steadily dropping off when it pretty much became clear that it wasn't innovating much as a series so you just ended up buying a new roster every year. These days, only Playstation owners can get a new baseball game.

if you have the scratch, buy a gamecube and get MVP Baseball 2005. it was originally on the xbox, but the gamecube port is fine. Hands-down the best baseball game I've ever played. A bit of a learning curve with the hitting (one of the first years with the swing stick I believe), but the pitching is easy to get the hang of (and one of the first games I remember being able get the cpu to swing at balls outside the zone). Deepest gameplay experience I can remember. Full A-MLB level rosters (though only the MLB guys have names/pictures- though some "real" rookies of that year are in the game under different names- like Hanley Ramirez, Cole Hamels, etc). Deepest owner mode i can remember playing, and the offseason is extremely fun with minigames to improve players.

I play MLB 2K13. It is the last MLB game for 360. Check out the link, these guys update the rosters for the beginning of the year and update them throughout the year as well. I just updated my rosters for the start of the season!
