I'm just getting back into collecting, and I'm solely focusing on my Canseco PC. My question is - and I realize this could quickly get into a self-promotion thing, not yet 100% sure what the rules are here - where do you get bulk commons without having to buy 100 singles on ebay?
For example, with Canseco I'm talking about the '86-'01 base years. Autos/Serials/etc. are another conversation. Since I'm still missing a couple hundred or so regular issue cards, what's my best course of action to pick up a choose-your-own lot? Does that even exist anywhere? I've gotten to the point where the occasional 300+ card lot on ebay just has the same stuff over and over, and it's not really worth it. |

COMC.COM
They are a consignment seller where people send their cards to COMC and COMC lists, sells and ships the cards. Flat fee shipping option available as well. |

for low-end, try sportlots.com
for others, try the B/S/T section here

I have a similar focus on my George Brett collection
I used COMC.com to handle the heavy lifting of my PC and got 99% of the easy to acquire items knocked out quickly. The way I attacked it was to sort by lowest price Once I felt comfortable that I owned all cards under $1 I moved on Then I sorted by Oldest The sort by oldest really pressed my budget for awhile as I grabbed odd ball and low print run items. Once I was comfortable with my completeness I went to the left side of the page and clicked "include sold out" which showed me every George Brett card ever on COMC in chronological order. The result is I am coming in hot on 1,000 unique GB cards I think this was more effective than any other way I could have done it. I am now working on reviewing Burbank Sportscards selection and then I will go to Sportlots and eBay Hope this helps, good luck. Player PC collecting is pretty fun

Sportlots because base cards are usually priced at .18 cents each but COMC charges their members a .25 cent processing fee so the seller has to price the card higher.
You need to be aware of shipping though. COMC will charge you a flat rate $3.50. With sportlots if you pick cards from ten different sellers you are going to pay more in shipping. Find a sportlots seller that has a sizable inventory and stock up with that single seller on as many low end Canseco cards as you can get. For higher end cards, I usually compare ebay, COMC, and Sportlots and go with the best price+shipping myself. Disclaimer: I sell on eBay and Sportlots. |

Remember, you pay 25 cents per item to ship on comc as well. If you pay $1 the seller get .75 because of the hidden shipping charge. But yea, for "Commons" 100% Sportlots, check for 1 or 2 sellers. Not if you want Better Commons/Inserts/Refractors check comc. Usually you can get Refs for 50 cents.

This is great advice everyone, thank you. Keep the suggestions coming if there are more. I'm at almost 750 distinct Cansecos, it's been great obtaining all of the older stuff I had when I was a kid. I still am finding myself reading the backs of a lot of the cards.

I have used justcommons. It is free shipping when you spend $15 otherwise they charge you $3. For example jose canseco's cheapest card on there is a whopping 8 cents.

I looked into Burbank and JustCommons - and spent a good amount of money on them
![]() I also found a site called PJs Sports Cards... looks like the site was made in 1993, but I've been emailing with the owner a bunch and it's turned out to be a nice surprise. Overall, I just added about 400 new cards to my PC. Thanks again everyone for the recommendations. |
