This could have different definitions for different players. Could be a prospect who jumps onto the scene and holds his own, or a guy who goes from star to super star. It's under a month until pitchers and catchers report, so I'd like to hear who you guys have high hopes for this year!

Here is what I think of him. He will either be elite or not even in the majors in 3 years

I hope Jorge Soler gets to play full-time and stay healthy. I would like to see what he can do as an every day player in the lineup for 150-ish games.

I'd like to see what peraza can do in a full season..he looked pretty good in limited time last year and he's still only 22. I'm obviously a reds fan, pretty sure he's barely on anyone else's radar.

MLBer - I fully expect Conforto to have a big bounce back year, hopefully getting steady playing time.
Prospect - Daniel Robertson (for obvious reasons) and, probably unkown to most of you, Nick Fanti of the Phillies. Fellow Long Islander has torn apart the Rookie Ball the last two years and I expect him to keep it up in A ball. |

Willson Contreras; i expect 20 plus homers and about 80 rbis as the full time C for the Cubs

You could say half of the Twins lineup. Buxton (as has been discussed already), Sano (legit power, needs more plate discipline), Park (same as Sano, might need a bit more time adjusting to MLB pitching as well), Rosario (has been great at times and meh at others), and even Kepler (had an amazing stretch, but then wasn't too great for a good stretch too

Not that he's not already good, but I believe Correa becomes Elite.
Also, I think Urias is gonna shine in the 4th slot and end up being Dodgers 2nd best pitcher. |

Nick Castellanos
He showed signs of breaking out last year until he missed part of the second half of the season with injury. Its time for him to perform at the plate over a full year.

Not sure you can say either of those are a leap. Freeman could have been MVP.

Eric Thames. He could truly be a beast and will get every opportunity hitting behind Braun.

Not on the Rays he doesn't, maybe with a trade he could.

Kyle Schwarber ... he's been huge in the playoffs the past two seasons for the Cubs, but still need to see what he can do in a full regular season. I am expecting big things. He may be the lead off hitter with Fowler moving on to St. Louis.
Schwarber, with Bryant / Rizzo following, should have a pretty great year. Last edited by wilsonj12; 01-22-2017 at 05:40 PM. |

My wallet wants Eduardo Rodriguez to get good.
I also think Wade Miley will lower his ERA to a low 5.00. Maybe only walk 100 more then he strikes out instead of the normal 200.

Also, Kyle Hendricks. I expect big things from him after leading the league in ERA and a great post season for the Cubs. A Greg Maddux style pitcher - doesn't need to over power hitters, but beat them with location.
