Oddly enough I can't find a thread on here for this set. I'm guessing it was nested in the "X number of Topps Star Wars sets in 2016" megathread haha.

Wanted to break this out from the main post, but Topps said on FB that they'd talk about stickers vs on-card for this set in their Q&A tomorrow. I feel with the releases so closely together that it'll be stickers again for the main cast who have stickers in Masterwork.

And on another note, I reached out to iFish to see about a box draft versus hit draft for this set. Personally I think this is better busted by a box at once versus hits since some slots may not appear (like Pattern 5 parallels) so it's safer and boxes are pretty cheap too.

I didn't buy any of this set, and I'm trying to figure out why it was so popular. Doesn't seem much different from, say, 2016 MW or getting a hobby box of nearly any other set. You still only get one auto of a minor character for a large price and only a few base cards. Can someone explain

I think the first High Tek was good because we had full body shots of the characters instead of movie stills and on card autos is always a win.

However, after the events of MW I fear for sketches and on card being in this set like we'd assume.

I also am curious if the release date is pushed back again or not.

It topps didn't get on card autos of the A names in Masterwork, why would this have them? That would make no sense because of how close they are in release dates.

High Tek cards are clear; see-through. IMO, that is a big part of the appeal

Yeah that's what I said in my 2nd post. Unless for some reason masterwork was signed before high tek and not together, because MW was pushed back a month or two.

This just ruins Tek for me....

- Blue Rainbow Foil-Numbered to 99
- Gold Rainbow Foil-Numbered to 50
- Orange MAGMA Diffractor-Numbered to 25
- Green Cube Diffractor-Numbered to 10
- Red Orbit Diffractor-Numbered to 5
- Black Galactic Diffractor-Numbered 1/1

Some color is fine.... this many colors is just overkill. I LOVED the Cloud Diffractors /25... why ruin it with Orange MAGMA being /25? And add Green Cube? I'm not a fan... and after seeing the main cast autos in Masterwork being sticker autos... if that happens in Tek.... it will totally destroy the product. Unless I missed it... I don't think I've ever seen a Tek card with a sticker auto.

A lot will depend if these are single variations (like the Clouds in Tek last year) or all pattern variations (like the Red / Black ones). I suspect the greens may be the same as the reds, but all the others will be singles.

Hopefully we'll know in advance too.

The thing that amazes me is the lack of accountability, after the Masterwork fiasco and now High Tek stickers, add to this the sketch card issue for the Walking Dead. If I received that many complaints about the products I am in charge of at my place of work I am pretty sure that I would be out if a job by now!

There is nothing to be held accountable for as long as there is a profit. The true decision makers don't care as long as the cards sell.

I urge everyone to sit this release out. Changes will only happen if we hit them where it counts.

Great idea but sadly it will never happen. These releases mainly sell to rippers and flippers who don't care about quality, just making a profit.

If everyone stopped buying from them on ebay for a few releases then you might see some change when they make big losses, go looking for something else to make money on and Topps suddenly finds it's pre-orders down by 50%.

Trust me, I hate that, but legally they can get away with these kind of changes by stating that, and it's bs.

I should add that to my ebay listings. Mark Von Ohlen (SW Brand Manager @ Topps) bought a Piett auto from me, I could've pulled that on him then and ripped off the sticker and put it onto a card I drew of Piett. A fan made sketchograph hahaha

So out of all of this we have only THREE new signers!

A lot of the "First Time as this Character" autos are bs. Cool if you collect based on character and not signer, but if Adien Cook is signing as Stronto don't also have Bobbajo autos again in this set! And do we really need another person who was a Guavian Death Gang member who had no speaking lines? Hell, we have about 1,000+ people who could sign as Stormtroopers then or random aliens from background scenes.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of repeat signers as well. Greedo, Aurra Sing, tons of Jedi, Ackbar, not good.

Lastly, how can Serkis and Prinze Jr. sign MW2 on card but not High Tek 2? Makes no sense with how close these releases are!

So High Tek #1 got to prices over $100 a box at its peak, obviously series 2 will not get anywhere close to this high, in fact the price should only drop.

High Tek Football went under $30 a box, now Star Wars won't go that low because there will be still be big hits to be had, but I could easily see this go down to $50 a box.

The Current price of $65 is certainly too high for a product that only yields 1 hit that is most likely to be a lower tier signer and even if it's a big name, it will be on sticker!

A lot of the "First Time as this Character" autos are bs. Cool if you collect based on character and not signer, but if Adien Cook is signing as Stronto don't also have Bobbajo autos again in this set! And do we really need another person who was a Guavian Death Gang member who had no speaking lines? Hell, we have about 1,000+ people who could sign as Stormtroopers then or random aliens from background scenes. Also, I'm seeing a lot of repeat signers as well. Greedo, Aurra Sing, tons of Jedi, Ackbar, not good. Lastly, how can Serkis and Prinze Jr. sign MW2 on card but not High Tek 2? jdhaugh11 Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Iowa Posts: 9,974 jdhaugh11 Jdhaugh11	So High Tek #1 got to prices over $100 a box at its peak, obviously series 2 will not get anywhere close to this high, in fact the price should only drop. High Tek Football went under $30 a box, now Star Wars won't go that low because there will be still be big hits to be had, but I could easily see this go down to $50 a box. The Current price of $65 is certainly too high for a product that only yields 1 hit that is most likely to be a lower tier signer and even if it's a big name, it will be on sticker!
