It's only a small sample size, remember how the Habs started last season and how they finished the season?

There's a reason why you don't start planning a parade in October.

Too soon to get worked up. You also have the Habs and Wild in 1st in their divisions. Remember where those teams finished? Let's check in after 20 games.

It's been a decent start for once. Nice to open the new arena with some wins.
And it's a wonderful facility.
Team is finally looking big enough to compete in this league.

Reality is coming back for the Oilers and McDavid...

6 points vs crappy Flames and only 6 points the next 8 games...
Anisimov has more points and goals

That 5 point game against the AHL leafs is a distant past never to happen again which really inflated his PPG total last year...

So you're saying McDavid never gets another 5 point game?

Glad to see the Oilers doing well.

It has been too long since they have been competitive. I grew up on the Islanders/Oilers dynasty teams.

I really like watching McDavid play. No doubt he is the real deal.

Now, how about those positive vibes

McDavid will be a Hart finalist this season.

This is the greatest infusion of youth into the league since Ovechkin/Crosby.

K
Technically he never had one since it was an empty netter 5 point game.

Just like Matthews will unlikely ever have a 4 goal game again...

I have a feeling that k13 sets up reminders on his calendar that read something like this:

"11/16/2016: It's been a couple weeks since someone posted about (team or player X) hot start. Check current standings. If (team or player X) is struggling, make a post to make other guy look silly. Then dip toes in a jar of Vaseline. Bask in your glory. You won the day."

Personally, I think the fact that the hockey season is so long makes it hard for hockey to get much media attention until after the Super Bowl, which is also when the trade deadline starts to approach and the playoff races start to heat up.

Nobody in the sports media is paying any attention to hockey this time of year, let alone to a small market team from Canada.

He's not yet ready to be a first line centre to face the best offensive players in the game.
He's a defensive liability thats costings oilers games every night.
2nd liner until he learn defensive positioning

He'd maybe even line up better on a second line roll for now.
Nuge has years under his belt.
They've missed Kris Russel more than I could have imagined.

Players don't get better with age in the NHL...especially top picks.
Only when they play more...

Look at mackinnon, RNH, taylor hall, jordan staal, jeff skinner, landeskog...
Remember when everyone said he's only 18/19/20....how amazing they will be in the future...

Even Crosby/Ovechkin are no better now than they were 19/20/21 and actually worse.

I few players got better like Stamkos/Seguin but that's more due to playing top line minutes.

McDavid is already playing 22 minutes a game which is insane for todays stars so can actually be below average and still out point someone who plays 18 minutes a game like Crosby/Ovie just by being on the ice almost 25% longer....
