Default Tyson Chandler refused to take pictures with my family.

well, i was at a skating ally in Mesa, AZ yesterday with my wife and 3 kids and as soon as i walked in the door, there he was Tyson Chandler at the register buying drinks for his family. I've never asked to take photos before of any celeb or basketball star so my wife was adamant about taking a quick picture with him and my newborn son. well, we approached him and he brushed us off saying he just wants his time with his family right now and that well take pics later. wtf? his kids and wife were skating while he was alone sitting down the whole time. I guess douchebags with money do exist.

How dare someone say no to taking a picture when they're ON THEIR OWN PERSONAL TIME WITH THEIR FAMILY.

This thread. Wow.

It's called priorities. Family time is important to him. Don't hate him for that.

Sounds like the OP is the DB..

Unless its an event where that is expected then a celebrity is not obligated to do so. He was on HIS FREE TIME and you were wanting him to take away from that.

its fine i guess if you were there you would have a different opinion i don't blame you. plus i never really asked anyone for pictures ever so it was like asking someone on a first date and getting shut down. lol ! i guess its common then with athletes and celebs but i dont think they all like that.

oh yeah. 3 seconds of his time while he was sitting down alone away from his family is stealing his time.

The irony and complete lack of self-awareness here are palpable, and it's beautiful.

Its still his time, does not matter if its 3 seconds or 3 hours its still his free time. Generation cupcake at their finest right here.

He doesn't owe you even 1 second of his time. You want his picture, go ask for it when he's in "celebrity" mode. At least autograph hounds would have the slight bit of decency to wait for him outside of the team bus or hotel, when the players are expecting it and not having a family day.

How's does he know you never ask other athletes/celebrities for pictures? How do you know he hasn't been harassed for pictures/autographs earlier in his day? You watch him play sports on tv but that doesn't entitle you to anything. Would it have been a much better story if he took a picture with you? Sure it would have been. You really can't fault him for not wanting to either. You say he was watching his kids, how do you think his kids would feel if they looked up to say "dad look at me!! Look what I am doing!" And he was busy with you taking a picture.

Might as well ask him $30k because he earns so much money.

Reminds me of the time Bababooey said he was busy when I wanted to take a picture with him.

I didn't call into the Howard Stern show and complain.

All of you are either half right or half wrong.

1. Absolutely correct that no one owes anyone anything when they are being asked to take personal time out for a small or even kind gesture.

2. Its just a small gesture, one that would make a fan happy. Wouldnt take much.

I dont think its wrong or right to not go out of your way for such a small thing. If I was a star or had fans, Id try my best to make the small things happen. But I understand if they cant. Some things go a long way, some dont. Depends on person and the situation.

I hold the door open for those who enter after me / behind me. I dont have to, but it doesnt take much effort or time.

Doubt OP is a DB but Tyson not wanting to take a picture certainly doesn't make him a DB. Maybe had you try to co verse with him things may have been different instead of just asking for a picturw right away.

If you're using this as any sort of comparison to the situation mentioned, no offense, but that's kind of ridiculous.

Wow... This thread.... I guess you and your family are more important than him spending time with his.

I'm seriously at a loss for words right now. He owes you nothing, what's so difficult to understand about that? You sound like the DB not him
