Default 1986-87 Fleer Jordan - Value Help!

Sorry, more of a baseball card collector, but trying to add a Jordan.

So my local shop is selling the following 2 cards and has them priced 1200 and 120 respectively. Obviously, I would try and make sure deal for the pair...

But I'm curious what you think they would grade and how much you would pay for them...if at all.

There is a small dimple above the yellow on the left.

What do you think?

I'd be concerned about authenticity even if it's a shop

$1200 for the RC Jordan is absurd. It's probably a PSA 4, maybe even a 3. The eye appeal is bad as it is terribly off-centered. I'd probably stay away unless you can get it for like $600.

The sticker might be an okay deal but would be interested to see the back and to see if there are any other obvious issues.

Nah, they're real. You don't see too many badly off-centered reprints with print spots on them.

The sticker seems worth the gamble.

Wouldn't buy the reg rc. When buying raw you need big upside to make up for grading costs and risk of being fake.

Keep this in mind...a card shop is a business like any other. They're in it to make money. If they thought they could grade and sell for more they wouldn't sell it raw to someone else and lose out on the profit

The rookie is real. Fish eye on the back is a clear indication. Sticker is a very nice buy at $120

You would think this is true but there are a lot of old school shop owners who don't grade at all. I'm lucky to have one in my town...

No, that is the penny sleeve.
There are some slight surface scratches on the RC.

So he will give the pair to me for close to that but tonight only, so I feel this is a great deal with low risk.
Worst case, I am buying a 2(OC) which still sells for $500+. Right?
I think it could be a 5(OC)...

I do like the sticker. It has great appeal from the front. Back as some surface water marks and is a little OC.
I am not too worried about authenticity.

I think for the package, I could grade the card, sell it and keep the sticker for a fairly good price if not free...

Any other thoughts on grade of RC?

You are going to take a bath, a cold one on the RC. At 1200, you could probably pick up a 7 if you did some leg work. The sticker on the other hand minus not seeing the back looks sharp for $120.
Grade wise on the RC, 5 at absolute best, 4 more realistic. You can pickup 5s almost everywhere for $750-$850.

I picked up a worse looking sticker (centering and edge/corner wise, really hard to judge the surface via pic) for $145 from LCS a month ago. I asked owner why he didn't get it graded, he said he just doesn't think the grade co's are fair, and gave the example that they gave his Jordan #57 RC an 8 when he knew it should've graded better. He's not alone in that sentiment, I've met several LCS owners who simply don't like grading cards. Anyway, I sent the sticker in for grading and it got a 6.5 with pretty strong subs. So, at current eBay prices ($250-325 for 6.5s recently), I probably picked up ~$100 in value by grading the card. I'd go for it if I were you, assuming you have good reason to believe it's authentic and would do pretty well with grading. Hell, raw stickers that look way worse than that one go for more than $120 on eBay.

Yeah, so I pulled the trigger and got the pair for 600.
Shop owner is fair and I don't think I'd have any issues with it being authentic.

600 for the pair is an ok deal. Be interesting to see what that sticker grades. Let us know.

If not, not too much risk.

I probably would have pulled the trigger at $600.00. Good for you! Good luck with the slabs, please let us know!
