Gardner was a nice find, but that was 11 years ago. You're talking about bright spots, I'm talking about guys that have actually contributed at the big league level. They've always had minor league "bright spots". They usually hype them up, trade them away, and the guy turns into an average player, at best. Cashman wanted minor league control so bad, and he's produced next to nothing.

So Severino didn't have an awesome year last year and it's Birds fault that he is on the DL this season and probably wouldn't have played much for another year due to the Teixeira contract?

Of course Severino pitched well. But it was 62 innings. The league got a chance to see him, and look at what he's done since. And yes, the Bird injury was unfortunate. The problem is that the Yankee prospects of the last decade or so have had a pattern of incompetence, injury, or both.
