On a business trip and just checked this thread. Did I miss anything....just kidding. Still have all my cards. Have not graded anything. Not planning to sell. Took a look at Ebay...pure pricing craziness. Kept on telling everyone his cards were under priced and the market wasn't making any sense. Hopefully people listened to me. Looks like I won't be buying anything for awhile. Hopefully I can find some deals in the off season!

My plan is to pick up a few nice cards in the off season! Should be able to afford them without having to sell my base cards. At some point I will grade a bunch of my Ohtani cards.

Glad to see Ohtani make history with 50/50. Will also be great to see him make history as the first DH to win MVP.

I am a long term Ohtani collector. It's fun being a fan and enjoying the ride. Ohtani cards to the moon!!!

December Goldin/PWCC auctions when cash strapped overleveraged people can't wait until spring training to pay off debt. There is no "cheap" season for Sho but all the best high end deals come on sleepy auction nights. Take a gander at last year's items.

Not a huge card but got this one in the mail today before he made history now off to the upgrade shop.From what I have seen the Topps Now Japan cards tend to have about half the print run of the U.S. version.

Not sure what that is on the left hand side because it's not on the card must be the camera phone. Not gonna die I had a mini panic attack.

Man, I don't think we as a collective are going to be able to pry your hands off your base collection! If you enjoy your base so much that you'd rather have those stacks than a nice BC or Heritage auto then so be it. I'll try not to mention it again lol. We all collect differently. I'm just surprised with your hyper focus on base pricing that you wouldn't choose to take advantage of the blow off top that's occurring.

My assumption is once this ride is over base will inevitably drift lower again (albeit with a higher floor) and you'll have to post another 100 or so times about base pricing before you have your next opportunity when Shohei inevitably does his next superhuman thing.

I'm getting the feeling you enjoy the ride, dig analyzing the ups and downs of 2018 Ohtani Base more than you'd enjoy a nice centerpiece to your collection. And I get that man! I have fun talking about this stuff too, that's why I keep bringing it up with you.

Let's continue enjoying the ride together in our own unique ways.

I don't collect Ohtani, but the 50/50 Topps Now card looks really nice. I like the "O" faces in the background. I also like the kids sign in the background of the SSP card too. Congrats to Ohtani!

Stole these two off the BST a few years ago after one of Ohtani's "slumps". Both cost about what a hobby box of 2024 Topps Tribute runs these days
