On a serious note, there are buyers using paypal/eBay credit to procure five figure cards. I would have to guess that these companies are trying to build up a book of high interest debt before rate relief comes. This is a crazy world we live in.

I guess I am just salty that there are a bunch of mid end cards I bought at the end of the 2021 season that were recommended as a "good buy" that peaked at that time and I could have bought for cheaper over the years...some even at 50%. Some examples include US1 rainbow foil, HHN variations, chrome refractors etc. While pretty much every base card I paid $10 or less for is a winner at this point.

And now I feel stuck in terms of buying. I am afraid if I buy any high end SSP or numbered cards (or even less likely a low end RC auto) that I am buying high like in 2021. I have this real aversion to buying something out of my comfort range (cards above $500) and then seeing them drop in price in short time.

I just pulled this from Alt. They're not always right, but I feel this chart does represent what we're seeing. I think the bottom line, as TBP keeps saying - buy low numbered rookie stuff from popular sets (Flagship, H, Bowman) and you'll be fine.

I threw two mid-end Ohtanis in my case before going to a local trade day last Saturday, honestly not even expecting any bites due to the prices I was asking. Was expecting I might be able to sell them next Spring at the soonest.

Both cards were sold to different people for exactly what I was asking in the first hour of the trade day. One guy tried to haggle with me for about 30min and I just kept telling him "the price is the price, I'll just keep it if you don't want it for that." He caved.

Ohtani is HOT in the hobby right now.

Yeah they’re quite expensive

Don’t stress yourself out about collecting.

But what you like
Buy what you can afford

Don’t worry about what the price is today or what it could be tomorrow.

Just have fun man

That's one! 118 MPH on an 86 MPH slider is ridiculous.

Default ✹The PERENNIAL Shohei Ohtani Thread✹

I hate saying this as a massive Judge fan but there is a chance Ohtani catches him for most HRs in the MLB. He’s so good

Judge will be fine. Timing is just a bit off but too talented to continue slumping for much longer.
