The Government was 100% behind when the pandemic hit and they sent everyone home. The biggest issue was the fact that we worked in a classified environment daily and you just can't replicate that at home. The Federal employees and military (except watch personnel) were 100% remote while we contractors worked 2 weeks on site, 2 weeks off. If I have a classified issue come up while I'm on site, I just can't call my leadership up at home and discuss it. And they couldn't come into the building to discuss it and make decisions without notifying and getting permission from the Commanding Officer and getting a COVID test. It was an absolute mess. And like I said, even on non-classified issues, you could never get in touch with certain Government employees (my Contract Representative) for example as she refused to give out her personal phone number and the Navy's use of MS Teams was just getting off the ground and not mandatory to use.

Things are better now at the Coast Guard but I still would like to see the mannerism and body languages of my employees when I'm trying to get a point across on them doing something instead of looking at a blank screen on my laptop.

I also don't know where you work, but considering your mostly anti-Government attitudes, I doubt it's for the Government. I have worked around Federal employees my entire adult life. If you believe they are all sitting at home working 8 hours a day earning your taxpayer dollars, you don't know much about Federal employees. a large majority of them didn't do anything in the office much less when they're working remotely with no supervision.

I have noticed that the above does not seem to be the case with most of the Coast Guard that I have worked with the last 10 months. Same as they actually treat you like a part of the team and not like a contractor.

Believe it or not, not every post is about you! WFH is beneficial for the employees in most instances, my post was a general statement about WFH and not caring about those with large commercial real estate holdings. I don't care what you do for a living, I'm surprised you can hold a job tbh, but good for you.

Seriously, I'm not sure if you're whole schtick about me "not being able to hold a job" is because you are a conservative hater, trolling, or you're just being ignorant. Whether it was in the military or at the two contracting companies I have worked for since, I've consistently received the highest work evaluations amongst my peers, numerous awards, and bonuses for achievements. I have won contracts for my company worth millions of dollars. I have never failed an education class or certification exam I have taken. In 31 years of managing people, I've had one complaint filed against me. So please, get to know someone before you make generalized comments about their abilities.

Question for the group. I have been driving my son to work because he doesn’t have his license yet, is it better off to have an outsider train him to drive or should me and my wife train him. I am leaning towards outsider.

In some states, it has to be a family member. Not sure how Mississippi handled it.
