Some of the comments in here make this thread insufferable at times. I love Acuna, but give me a break. He's not anywhere close to the MVP anymore.

Exactly this. He will be there soon; but not this year as much as I’d like it.

40/40 closes the gap a ton. Otherwise I agree that he is a distant 3rd.

Where are you seeing him 3rd? At best, he should be 4th after Belli/Yelli/Rendon.

Rendon should be the winner at this point

I don’t wanna be a bummer but if it ended today I’d go
Yelich
Rendon
Belly
Marte
Ron

With Bellinger slumping and Yelich done for the season, I think Freddie Freeman is the NL MVP.

I can 100% get behind this.

No it doesn't. He's gone almost a month where he has literally been the LEAST valuable player on his team. From August 16th to September 9th he hit .171 with 3 HRs and 31(!) strikeouts. And the Braves went 18-4!

Not a bummer at all. Let's assume Ronnie gets to 40/40, where do you guys see the voting at that point? Maybe I am assuming more value in that then I should.

It's amazing how far off a lot of you are on the MVP front. Acuna had a chance if he stuck with his hot streak a month ago, but his cold stretch these last 3 weeks cemented him outside the top 3.

Now with Yelich out for the rest of the year, Bellinger basically has it in the bag even if he has zero production the rest of the year.

Freeman is a distant 3rd on his own team, with Acuna and Donaldson ahead of him. His numbers have the benefit from batting 3rd on a team with two players having great years.

Ketel Marte doesn't get much love playing for Arizona, but he's clearly in third behind Bellinger and Yelich at this point.

The most interesting race will be if Trout struggles with injuries the rest of the year, if Bregman can overtake him in the AL with the Astros making the playoffs on top of it. There's a guy that's hugely overlooked!

What a wild year. Will be fun to see how it all shakes out. Acuna has the IT factor, but maybe he is closer to Soto than I thought. 5th or 6th in MVP voting. Mostly follow the Twins, but seems like he is making the most noise. Maybe because of my following this thread!

Some people are delusional. Even if he gets 40/40, he's 4th place with his season.

Bellinger, Yelich, Rendon are all above him and I'd almost put Freeman ahead of him. You also have Marte to consider, and honestly Arenado and somewhat Alonso.

The only way Acuna gets really strong consideration is if he ends the year hitting 10+ homeruns while bringing his average back up to .300.

Kind of the spur of the moment thing but I bought a case of Bowman Best 2017. I only came across it because the seller added Acuna in the title. So now that I'm getting this. Is this a hold or rip kind of case? I got $100 ebay bucks from it I guess, so that helps.

LMAO at Freeman being “a distant third on his own team”. Does no one even care about batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage, HRs, or RBIs anymore because Freeman leads in all of them. Well he’s tied for the lead in HRs but well ahead in all the others.

Freeman is baseball good, but I don't think will ever be hobby good. ITs strange how these things go.

Definitely would be a great player to like and collect. Plays great and cards are cheap.
